How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSuperbly located hotel within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars in Tain L'Hermitage, and across the river in Tournon. Staff were very helpful, and provided parking disks on arrival.
Breakfast was expensive compared to nearby cafes. There is no lift.

Verified reviewLovely hotel in a perfect spot in Tain L'Hermitage. It is positioned right at the end of the bridge, which gives you easy walking access to the old town, as well as being walking distance to wineries in the new town. The hotel staff were kind and welcoming with a nice breakfast on offer too. The air con in the room was very pleasant as it was incredible hot when we visited. We accessed the local wineries using 'wine and ride' bike service which is located just 10 minute walk from the hotel.
There was no fridge in the room to store any drinks. The room size was small so wouldn't have been comfortable staying much more than 2 nights.

Verified reviewThe hotel has a great location, on the river promenade of Tain-l'Hermitage almost on the bridge connecting Tain to Tournon-sur-Rhône. From my room I had a great view over Tournon. The hotel has also a private parking, which is very convenient if you are coming by car.

Verified reviewGreat scenic location overlooking the Rhone. This is the home of excellent wine - if you are here for more than one day a tour looks a goos idea (we may well come for two nights next year for that reason) - and the hotel is close to the main square and a number of restaurants. You may need to book the latter if it is high season.

Verified reviewJust the location
The room (number 5) which we were allocated was tiny. We had no space at all for luggage to be stored. The toilet was fitted in a space so small that sitting down wedged you between the shower cubicle and the wall. The room should never be anything but a single…..and have a single bed installed. The staff were seemingly disinterested.
We are not surprised by your message, it was difficult to satisfy you... Fortunately, the vast majority of our customers are very satisfied with their stay with us. We are always in interest of our customers !! Best regards

Verified reviewThe hotel is in a nice location and we had a nice room overlooking the river.
On arrival the reception was adamant I had no booking. She was most rude until I showed her on booking.com proof of my booking. I asked if coffee from a machine was complimentary and was told yes. Next morning when checking out they told me I owed 7 euro for a coffee I'd been told was free. They rudely said I had to pay and they said it was on CCTV of me taking a coffee. I am absolutely discussed at their attitude to guests. Even if it was a misunderstanding, a coffee from their machine should not cost 7 euro.
Dear Sir, We were eagerly awaiting your comment, given your fake smiles and deceptive kindness in person. Allow me to put things into context. When you arrived, there was indeed a misunderstanding on my part because I thought there was only one reservation. After an explanation within the next 5 minutes, I gave you your room key and apologized. Regarding the coffee machine, I never told you it was free, since no one asked. Only one woman in your group came to ask me for hot water to put in her thermos, which I happily accepted. After that, the 16 people in your group came to serve themselves several times one after the other. I didn't intervene at that moment, thinking that the entire group of cyclists (which is always the case with us) would have breakfast. Some were satisfied with an express breakfast, which they enhanced until they made it a full all-you-can-eat breakfast. Of course, when it came to paying, no one had consumed anything (except room 3). So yes, allow us to have charged you €7.00 for coffee for all the drinks (our machine counts the cups of coffee, which is more than 100 coffees that day after your arrival). Furthermore, we don't charge €7.00 for coffee, but €2.50. The average customer consumes four coffees, so you can consider yourself a winner. Furthermore, your disrespect for our cleaning staff was at its peak, especially in your room, sir. I don't think you clean your shoes with your sheets at home. We look forward to not seeing you again, Direction
