Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe loved the artsy, bohemian vibe; the gorgeous dog, Phenix, the charming owner Jerome and his delightful colleague, Lucille. The location was fantastic just a shade away from the busy-ness of the harbour but also a stone's throw of the amenities.

United KingdomWe had a garden room with a mezzanine floor which was beautiful but very hot making it a challenge to sleep well. There was a fan. The age of the building probably means AC is not an option but would have been welcome. This issue was only a small set back to our stay.
Lovely boutique style hotel. Amazing central location with pretty, tranquil garden and plunge pool

United KingdomSt Martin is a pedestrianised town and there is virtually no parking anywhere in the centre. However, there is paid parking a 3 minute walk away and free parking 10 minutes away. We unloaded our luggage in front of the hotel then used the free parking. It was really easy in the end.
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. Incredibly stylish and comfortable. The location is fantastic, very central and close to all the restaurants and shops. Jérôme is a great host and is there for any questions or advice you need. Our room was really well laid out and could be in a magazine. Interior decorations overall are very imaginative and well sourced. We enjoyed reading and hanging out in the salon area. Very comfortable. We highly recommend.

United KingdomNothing at all! I have read some of the other recent reviews and have some concern that visitors haven't realised that this is a guest house rather than a hotel. If you want room service, air conditioning, daily fresh towels and a 24 hour lobby service it probably best to go elsewhere. If you want a relaxed, unstructured holiday home, with an easy going host then this is clearly more you thing.
Our hosts were ever charming and helpful. The accommodation was stylish, comfortable and a peaceful and relaxing retreat from the bustle of the port.

Location wise this hotel is second to none, being in the Harbour. from the moment you enter you see the mix of history with considered style and architecture, that works perfectly. If you get chance to small room at the top of the hotel is perfect for seeing the whole of St Martin de Re whilst being able the reflect and relax. An amazing place to stay

Great location near all the restaurants and shops but at the same time a quiet and serene atmosphere in the hotel, a nice little garden with a pool. Make sure to check out the tower at the top of the building for a nice view.

United KingdomThe whole building has been beautifully restored recently and sympathetically furnished and decorated - a treat for those that have an eye for such details. Public access areas lounge/bar, dining room all comfortable and beautiful. Bedroom "Canopee" was a lovey size, vaulted ceiling - great bathroom/shower and a big very comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good with 3 different options (if a little expensive). Gerome (owner) was super friendly & helpful - very knowledgeable and took time to show us around the property and served us some very nice local drinks each evening before we headed out to dinner locally.

United KingdomUnfortunately, the room we had was not air conditioned which made it quite hot, but the host gave us a fan which definitely helped.
This hotel was stunning, the eye for detail and decor was exceptional. We absolutely loved the character of the house and took home many ideas for our own Victorian home! Our room had a lovely garden view. The hotel has a small pool and terrace area which is shared by all guests. It was quiet when we stayed but imagine it could get quite busy when at full capacity. The location was brilliant, very central and within walking distance to the centre, all of the restaurants / shops / beach and cycle shop. It also had an amazing roof top observatory which you could book out and enjoy the stunning views with a drink, which we did almost every evening. The host was very friendly indeed, available when needed but not intrusive. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

United KingdomWe were shoved into a room at the back of the garden with no character at all . A white sloping ceiling and no windows only a pair of patio sliding doors which we didn’t want to leave open in case of unwanted visitors but lest the owners very large dog . For people that are dog phobic this is not the place to stay but there is nothing to say that there is a big dog rather the opposite it says no fails allowed which kind of assumes a dog free place . The furniture was poor and stained , the sheets had mosquito blood stains from prior occupants and the walls had squashed mosquitos too . The bathroom was fine if a little small . We paid just under 390 GBP for this room and it was not worth it at all . Breakfast is not included and I thought somewhat expensive . My view is that at this price breakfast should be included. Our arrival spoke more of what we shouldn’t do , don’t use the kettle during breakfast time ( but no kettle in the room !) be careful not to lock and break the sliding patio door. The owner is welcoming but a bit blasé in my view . Nice enough place but the price point is too high or he needs to up his game . I wouldn’t return . No help dealing with luggage either especially on gravel path . I don’t need it but in a few years time I may well. Ps the pools Aerial view is misleading like most of the photos . It is only 5m long and is more of a bath than a pool. I travel a LOT and use booking.com a lot but this is the first time I really delft something off balance .
Location good , house of character but seems better in heavily styled photos than in reality .

United KingdomThe room, although large was rather dingy. The proprietor was efficient but we found not particularly helpful or welcoming.
The location is excellent - right by The harbour with a plethora of restaurants, bars and shops. The accomodation I feel oversells itself. We did not have breakfast (although I'm sure they were excellent) as we preferred to step outside to eat and enjoy the local atmosphere rather than a sterile breakfast room. No doubt it is an impressive property but as accommodation it's really just a posh guest house masquerading as a five star hotel that happens to be in a great location.

United KingdomIt's not really a hotel but feels more like you're staying in someone's house. There are a few rules (you can't bring food in to eat, no drink making before 11am) but there is no provision to eat at the hotel except breakfast which cost 100 Euros a day for 4 of us, which is just a ridiculous price for what you get. To be fair, it's the same price all over the island but just isn't worth it. If it was a more reasonable price we'd have eaten it every day as it was delicious. We did bring food in after a long day out and the owner was very unhappy and we had to apologise to clear the air. There is provision after 11am to make yourself a cup of tea but you have to call the owner for milk who is very obliging if around but that wasn't always the case. A fridge to keep milk would be great! We had a room with a terrace at the end of the garden which was very disappointing. Small, dark, more like a shed with a tiny shower room. Nothing like the other rooms or the ones we'd seen on the website and actually cost more because of the terrace. The room is only cleaned once a week and even then there were still marks around the sink and the shower, it looked like a "light clean". We were there for 9 days and it felt really dirty by the end. It would've been nice to have a clean every 3 days and new bedding.
The building is beautiful and so tastefully decorated, it's just fabulous and a real haven in the midst of the bustling Saint Martin de Re. The garden is a little oasis with lovely deck chairs and cushions to laze around on, and the pool was very welcome on hot days! The owner was very helpful in giving us information for sightseeing, taxis etc, extra pillows etc. If you get a chance, take the opportunity to go up the tower in the hotel - you have a fabulous view over Saint Martin. It's really special. Our children had a beautiful room that opened onto the garden which was spacious and beautiful designed and laid out, really cool as we expected. They have a wonderful dog, Phoenix, who we fell in love with.

SlovakiaThe room with terrace that we were staying in, was extremely uncomfortable. It was basically a pool house turned to a room. There was no proper ventilation (only to open the sliding door to the garden), no privacy, no closet or a rack to put your things to. Overall very uncomfortable, and there were also no room cleaning to make it even worse.
The house of the hotel is really beautiful, with a very stylish decor. The secret "rooftop room" for aperitif is amazing, garden for afternoon chill is also very beautiful. Location of the hotel right next to the small port is great. Saint Martin de Re is an amazing destination and I liked this "city" the most from places I have visited on the island. Parking on the public free parking was around 10min walk, but not a problem as you don't really use the car (bicycle everywhere)

United KingdomAlmost complete lack of housekeeping in our bedroom. Our room didn't appear to be cleaned during our 4 night stay - certainly the bed was never made. Curtains were loose on their tracks and one of the bathroom lights did not work - a daily clean would have noticed and dealt with all of these. Our room was not as well presented as the main building - not a place you'd want to spend any time. Apart from a small flask of water (which was never refilled), no facilities for coffee/tea, no fridge for storing snacks/drinks. Although breakfast was available, this was very expensive when compared with any number of excellent cafes/restaurants nearby.
The location by the harbour in St Martin is great (opposite Hotel la Jetee where we've also stayed). The endless swimming pool in the garden was good. The public rooms in the main building were nicely presented - however our room was in an annex alongside the garden and not as well dressed.

United KingdomI have never been made to feel as unwelcome in a hotel as I was at Le Secret. Check in isn't until 5pm and the welcome to drop bags off before then is a complete lie. We arrived at 10am from a very early start of the day to zero welcome and told they were too busy to help us but if we must we could drop our bags in the corner of the hallway and come back at 5pm. After returning at 5pm, my partners daughter had asked to check in first but was told we all had to be shown to our rooms together (despite having 2 separate bedrooms) because the owner didn't want to have to explain himself twice. Rooms are nice but bathrooms smelt of drains and the garden sprinklers come on in the middle of the night and stay on for hours which kept us awake. Breakfast is fine but certainly not worth 25 euros a head. If the welcome was bad the check out was even worst! The owner reminded us several times how busy he was and that he couldn't possibly accommodate our need to want to leave our bags after check out for a few hours before our flight in the evening it was also pointed out how disappointed he was that we had arrived to the hotel so early and left so late. I have never stayed in a hotel where it was a problem to drop off bags and leave bag before/after check out! By the owners attitude towards his paying guests one would think he didn't actually want any guests to come and stay! I usually love telling everyone about my travels and where to stay but I can assure you I would never stay here again nor recommend any one I knew to say either. To add insult to injury I left a bag behind a bag with medication in reception which he refused to put in post (only to France, not even to UK where I live) again because he was much too busy! Hospitality I don't think is for you!
Great location
