Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe didn’t use the lift (I assume that it worked), but anyone with mobility issues may struggle with the spiral staircase up to the 3rd floor. Great to have aircon but this only covered the living room & kitchen so fans in the bedrooms would be nice as they were very warm on hot days.
Sizeable property with everything that you need for a relaxing stay. Only 15min walk from the medieval city (the reason we visited Carcassonne) and plenty of shops & restaurants on your doorstep.

United KingdomThe bedrooms are large and bright, but the living room has only borrowed light from the 'patio' which is a light-filled but completely covered space with plastic chairs and plastic plants. There was no local information available in the flat - but lots online and from the tourist office just round the corner.
Great location, on a pedestrianised street close to the main square, restaurants, bars, shops plus the Canal du Midi and River Aude for walks. The ancient city is also an easy walk away. 10mins walk to the station for trains towards Toulouse one way and Narbonne the other. Station staff were helpful and patient with my poor French. 3mins from the airport bus stops, the Museum des Beaux Arts and the fabulous patisserie and chocolatier Bimas. The flat has everything you need, the beds were extremely comfortable and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. The Bastide owners responded to queries within 24-hours through the Booking.com website, but we couldn't find a way to contact them directly.

IrelandOnly 2 things - Friday and Saturday night it was noisy on the street till 4am; not the fault of the property but would have been nice to know that the environment could be noisy; the other thing was the patio; well it wasn’t a patio; it was a room with a frosted glass roof - I was expecting something outside so was disappointing and not as advertised
Comfortable bed, quiet a very nice place to stay

United KingdomWe were so lucky to be able to book this accommodation. This actually was the perfect location in Carcassonne! The apartment was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated throughout. I loved that the original features of the building had been preserved and kept so well, adding to the character. Both Charlotte and her mum were excellent hosts, so welcoming and helpful. Charlotte's mum actually helped us on the first day as she happened to bump into us trying to get into a different apartment by accident! We found out - and read about the family history of the building, just beautiful! Please bear in mind that this accommodation is right in the centre of the city - naturally, there may be some street noise, especially around festival time. This is totally normal and something that you would expect in any city if you want to be in the heart of the action. Just plan ahead and bring earplugs if you're generally affected by such things. I was actually only disturbed one night by the festivities, which I think is fine as it was the biggest festival night of the season. We preferred being this side of the city to the medieval side, and everywhere is easily accessible. Some days we walked just around the corner to the square for breakfast and some days we walked a very short distance to an excellent boulangerie and ate breakfast at the apartment. I can't express enough how wonderful the location is. The kitchen is cute, clean, and well stocked with necessary appliances. We loved the bathroom with the 'his n hers' sinks! The shower is superb! The artwork throughout provides elegance and reflects the owners great taste and style. The lift is a great addition, especially after a long day walking. If you're getting the shuttle bus in from the airport, then the nearest stop to get off at is the 'Dome'. The airport bus only has a couple of stops and we found it a quick and easy walk from this stop.

United KingdomBeautiful apartment and incredibly spacious too! It is in a fabulous central location too, so it's in easy reach from the railway station and very handy for shops, restaurants - and not far to walk to the old town. Laundry facilities were very handy to use on our travels and the covered terrace was perfect for a chill out and to hang the washing on our travel washing line!

AustraliaWe coukd not stay longer because there was another booking right behing ours.
This is one fabulous place to stay in the heart of the town. Very quiet get in a busy area and a stone's throw from a square with heaps food restaurants. The apartment was spacious, a well equipped kitchen, two massive bedrooms with very comfortable beds and a great bathroom, and laundry with seperate washing machine and dryer. The owner was extremely responsive to ore communications. We were able to store two bicycles at the end of the hall on the ground floor and the lift was a really welcome surprise. The covered out door area off the kitchen was splendid.
