Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

+Convenient location - 3 minutes by foot from the "Aude" entrance to the Carcassonne Fortress +Quiet neighborhood, - we could hear the birds chirping (no cars, no fumes, peaceful place). +Spacious 3 bedroom-apartment. +Nice walled terrasse with a spectacular view to the Castle , I am pretty sure it can be an amazing place to have a drink and contemplate the Fortress (we weren't lucky to have good weather, so we couldn't take advantage of this "plus" of the property) +Comfortable bedding +Well-equipped American kitchen. +Modernly decorated. + A/C to warm up the rooms was really nice, as the weather was cold and rainy. +Showers were delightful, as hot water was in abundance. +Pierre, our host, was extremely attentive to everything. Even though we haven't met in person, he made sure that everything we wanted / needed was in place. He offered a lot of useful information regarding restaurants and things to do in / around Carcassone so our stay can be perfect. Moreover, I wanted a large plate of strawberries upon our arrival to the "Gite". Pierre made it happen. Delicious strawberries were waiting for us, nicely presented on the table next to a gift from the host (a bottle of local prosecco).

United KingdomThe property is great but just be aware there is only 1 toilet and it is down a few steps from the bedrooms. Similarly the outside table has some steep steps on either side meaning that children can’t run around unsupervised in the outside space.
The property is in a great location and Pierre is so kind and helpful. The lounge seating is so comfortable and relaxing.

United KingdomI could not fault the property, we had a small issue with getting the key stuck in the patio door, but it was just the heat. I contacted Pierre and he responded straight away and we got the key out.
Beautiful property close to the old town. Stayed with 2 friends and we all had a large bedroom each which opened out onto a lovely outside space with a view of the castle. We used this area a lot during our stay and had breakfast here in the morning, a glass of wine in the evening and even done morning yoga looking at the castle which was lovely. Just around the corner is a little shop where we bought fresh baguettes and supplies for our stay. Pierre our host left us a bottle of wine and there were lovely toiletries supplied so we didn’t need to bother bringing them which is good if your flying in with just hand luggage. Pierre even rang us a taxi for the airport when we were l aging.

United KingdomNot much to be negative about here, however: -Beds were great but we found the pillows were rather too small / soft. - The First bedroom curtain needs extending to fully block the light out. - The property may not be suitable for those with very young children – i.e. toddlers, due to the steep steps from the patio down to the entrance, and steps inside the apartment, although possibly Pierre may be able to provide stair gates inside if needed.
The apartment was fantastic, it is approached via its own door from the road which is in front of a church- St Gimer. A few steps up and you are on your own beautiful private terrace with bedrooms accessible via sliding doors to the left. Approx 6 steps then lead down to the main access doors to the fabulous open plan lounge and kitchen - which is stunning with a vaulted ceiling. Approx 6 steps lead up to the bedroom level once inside. Beds were very comfortable and all areas spacious with A/C in each bedroom and lounge. Our children -10 & 7 loved it and it was a great location for exploring the old city. Pierre was very friendly and really helpful- a complimentary bottle of wine provided on arrival and he arranged our return taxi collection to the airport which was much appreciated- than you!
