How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

You had to take your chance with parking if you used your car to travel to dinner, we were lucky, in hindsight better to book dinner nearby and walk.
Great location with easy access (in and out of area). Excellent communication with host, quality furnishings and comfy bed. Splendid breakfast provision, the morning bread locker was a nice touch.

located behind the old city wall this small two story property is fully equipped with all amenities you can think off, with on the second floor (first floor in Europe) a wonderful bedroom and adjacent bathroom with walk-in shower.

Location was great, lovely and quiet but very close to a busier area. Host was amazing and brought us fresh bread and croissants (left in a lock box outside). Cheeses, meats, yoghurts and eggs in the fridge. Coffee and tea available. Bed was enormous and comfy, bathroom was lovely, everything was sparkling clean. We had a wonderful stay.

It is quit and near the city. The gîte is perfect for two . You can park the car nearby. The breakfest is included and good . Very good bed.We were there for the second time.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Le Gites des Lumières having discovered it last year ……again it didn’t disappoint !!! Visiting in Winter this time and it was extremely snug and cosy. Great breakfast as before…can’t fault it. Sandra keeps you informed at all times…which isn’t always the case with some places.

I'm a bit old and found some of the kitchen equipment a bit challenging. Surprised yo find uncooked bacon on breakfast try with cooked charcuterie and cheeses.
Excellent location. Beautifully refurbished rooms. Excellent welcome from Sandra.

Excellent facilities,great location to explore the old town of Langres 2 minutes walk from the battlement walls. Superb host who was on hand if you needed anything. Nice touch of homemade cherry muffins on arrival!!Superb breakfast with a variety of options. Will definitely return as it’s a great stop over going from the UK to the South of France.

We travel a lot and can honestly say that this was one of the best overnight stays we have experienced. A beautiful little house, clean and comfortable, and delightfully and tastefully furnished, with many thoughtful little extras. Sandra goes the extra mile - she met us to let us in and set the table for the meal which we had pre-ordered. This was an interesting 3-course dinner of mostly local specialities, home-cooked with locally sourced produce - delicious! Breakfast, which was already in the fridge, also comprised local produce, and fresh bread and pastries were delivered in the morning to the bread box by the front door. Thank you Sandra for making our overnight stop so delightful and relaxing. And thank you also for your Christmas treats!

A little early check-in would be an icing on the cake.
It was immaculately clean and practical. The breakfast was excellent as well. Better than a four-star hotel.
