The rooms were on the small side and a little bit old fashioned in decoration. The shower cubicle was very small, and the power of the water was low in the shower.

The hotel is what you expect from a 2 star french hotel. The staff great check-in was straightforward. The beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of storage for a couple of days stay. We opted to pay for breakfast, which was good value with quality food. The location for Royat was ideal, and the parking was good.

Rooms are a little tired but not uncomfortable.

A hidden gem. Looks tatty from the outside but rooms are clean and spacious. Evening meal was truly excellent. New chef about a year ago apparently and his menu is excellent. Breakfast is very basic but OK (obviously without the chef!). Very reasonably priced and nice gardens and stream opposite for a stroll with/without a dog.

While extremely clean and well kept, with a lot of attention paid to keeping that way, the place and the rooms are rather old, excluding the bathrooms which are a bit more modern (maybe 2000s). If you want to see Clermont-Ferrand (we didn't), this location is quite far out, as well.

Hotel Le Châtel is a good place to stop for a night or two if you, like we, have a car and are using it as a base to explore the area. The area is very nice and scenic and there is a big, free, parking lot nearby which can support most kinds of cars. Everything was clean, the staff are very friendly (English is limited, but you'll get on fine with even the most basic French) and the breakfast and dinner options (they have a restaurant with an evening meal) is excellent.

The air con was preset and was a little bit cold but the duvet was good.

Nothing to dislike.

Parking available just outside the property. Able to communicate with the reception even though English was not spoken. Good size room, comfortable bed,hot shower. The menu for the evening meal was translated into English which was extremely helpful. Breakfast was varied and good quality. Great location very near to the town centre.

No problems at all.

Interesting town on the outskirts of Claremont Ferrand. Interesting facade to the hotel, there was a lift to all floors and the room was clean and tidy with a large comfortable bed. Perfect for us. It was a Sunday so finally found dinner in the casino which was open. Parking was outside the hotel with limited private parking near the hotel. We had no problems parking at the front of the hotel and it felt quite safe. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel set on a very busy road. I know that fire doors have to be solid but the doors were very heavy and practically impossible for me to hold open and pass through.

Staff were friendly and helpful without being over effusive. Room was spotless and well arranged. My dog was welcomed. Lovely litte park over the road.

Old and not renovated hotel with small and unclean rooms! Heating with a noisy AC, which made sleeping impossible.The Wi-fi isavailable in the lobby. Uncomfortable bed!

The dinner was suprisingly good, while the breakfast was fair ( only cold choice) but lovely baquette and croissant.

Air conditioning to be set just by the reception that was in another building, two floors down without lift. No air ventilation equipment nor window in the bathroom. Reception and hotel closed between 13:30 and 16:00, so no chance to get in in that timeframe.
