Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was a little basic for the price. Next time we would pop over to the supermarket/boulangerie across the road for our breakfast.
Nice location, comfortable rooms with lovely grounds. Would definitely stay again.

United KingdomNothing really, I would stay again
we had a suite, very large enormous bedroom with sitting area and small kitchenette which is off to the side and reasonably equipped for use. Very large bathroom equipped with step less wet room, 2 sinks and a high toilet with support rails. so it seemed suitable for anyone in need of these facilities. There is a second bedroom with 2 single beds and wardrobes. Outside terrace both front and back and access to the walkway along the canal where there were boats moored. Beautiful grounds, loads of parking and the hotel restaurant was good and inexpensive

United KingdomLots of ants 🐜 in our room and a fly 🪰 infestation in my daughter's bathroom. Staff said she shouldn't have opened the windows but with temperatures of 30/32 degrees on the day's we were there what are you supposed to do. The air con was good and facilities were OK 👍🏻
Lovely relaxed location.

United KingdomThe town of Joinville is a total mix of gorgeous, rustically beautiful and shockingly ugly. The sign to the hotel had us worried for a moment that we were staying in the later. There were just a few little things I'd improve. There was no bath mat or even a full sized hand towel. The curtain covered both the heater and the air con so you had to choose, keeping the light out or controlling the temperature. They very kindly brought me an iron as there wasn't one in the room but that is probably listed.
Pulling further into the drive is like stepping into a little oasis. It's lovely with a little courtyard and landscaped surrounds. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very nicely furnished with a comfy bed and a powerful shower. Just the right amount of space as well and everything was in great condition.

United KingdomNo toilet in the room, had to go across passage to the one allocated for the room we were in. I booked this hotel because it said it had a restaurant, when we got there it was closed, not open Friday - Sunday nights, this was very disappointing as they should stipulate this on the site.
Was on our route, and was quiet location.

SwitzerlandUnfortunately, check-in is not until 17:00 and the hotel is a little outside the centre of Joinville.
The hotel has a pretty little garden and is situated next to a water canal. The room was clean and had enough space for 2 adults and 3 children.

FranceOnce inside the property is not very inspiring. The first room we were shown did not have a toilet in the room, but on the landing. We were offered another room which was bigger and had a private toilet, but for which we had to pay extra as this was considered an upgrade. The shower did not have an attachment for the shower head, so really was only a handheld shower. The shower gel was not of any great quality. Both the WiFi and the a/c stopped working at midnight. When I mentioned this at check out the receptionist seemed very surprised and said that no one else had complained about this. When I mentioned that the shower did not have an attachment for the shower head her response was that “this is normal”. I was not impressed by her lack of understanding and total lack of concern for the above mentioned failings.
The outside of the property and the grounds looked well kept and welcoming. The receptionist on arrival was very helpful and accommodating
