Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only small drawback is if you sat in the formal restaurant area (inside and outside) you were required to order from the expensive menu.
This hotel is in a beautiful hilltop location and a beautiful walk along the Bay to Saint Jean de Luz where there are many wonderful places to eat, shop and explore. The staff is SUPERB!

SpainThe dinner menu of the restaurant should also have a meat option except pork 😉
Best hotel at Saint Jean De Luz. It has big and comfortable rooms for families. A quiet and chic hotel with sea view and a very good restaurant. I also advise the breakfast

LuxembourgIt’s not enough to have a great location and rely mostly on professional staff - let me explain. We had booked via booking a room , which was at the ground floor on the seaside - you might expect humidity ( fair enough) but when you have such a moisture, we fear fungy issue that you can smell it while entering the room its not good. It led to an asthma crisis . Needs a serious check that room. We asked for changing room in the night therefore and were helped. We booked a suite as there was health emergency. Great suite, clean, the receptionist was very helpful. Now, no request in the morning if all allright. Would have been nice. At check out , 3 days later … we asked for nothing but expected again a request, or a sorry for the in inconvenience or at least we will make the room check ( we had to ask to learn that yes there was a «note») … nope, nothing we paid even the first night the suite …. or some might even think this is a sanitary issue … The Manager explaining the chaotically structured invoice to the receptionnist passed by, no nothing … I guess most of us will agree that that is not at the hight of how the hotel positions itself. Next example : we had reserved a table , second evening in the restaurant, had asked twice if the reservation was ok to find out … no. We got a table in the second row to the view. When I asked can we have for tomorrow a table at the window - «not promised we give the tables in the order of reservation« Then literally five minutes later a couple arrived , was supposed to sit next to us but asked to get a table in the first row. The server went asking the lady who had answered five minutes earlier we cannot change our procedure and she said «yes»… Consistency is key to good management and client service … Perhaps not estonishing when you consider the non client focused approach I documented above.
The location, most of the super friendly staff. The food, though the menu is very limited. The clean second room - suite you should expect that for the price.

United KingdomWe had a room with a terrace which just had sun beds. We would have found it more comfortable with seats to sit on. However there was a lovely communal seating area so we sat there instead.
The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the reception staff. Breakfast on the outside terrace was very relaxing

SpainWe arrived after the usual lunch hours and were not able to order anything nice to eat at the restaurant, and what we did get was not really very good, surprisingly low standard for such a nice place! Missing body lotion too in the bathroom.
Generally all good, nice bed and bedding, we had door out to the garden. Nice staff, nice terrace and gardens and pool, lovely views, and very quiet

GermanyThe biggest minus is very poor buffet for breakfast. It is ridiculous to pay almost 400 euro a night in a big hotel and get only so limited choice . We would stay longer than 2 nights would be very frustrating.
Great location and amazing long and deep pool. . Good restaurant with good food. However we have struggled to order when we’re dining second time .

FranceI would rate this hotel exceptional if it wasnt for the smoking. I had a main floor room with a terrace. I prefer to keep the patio door open for air. the hotel has no smoking in the rooms but clients can smoke on their terrace. the next door person was smoking and the smoke and smells was coming in to my room. I do not support that and I was forced to close my patio door.
the view is great and since this is not their peak period, the hotel was quiet

We absolutely loved our night in this hotel. The restaurant was fully booked for our stay so we walked into the town (25 minutes) and had dinner at La Boëte, the best restaurant we have enjoyed in 40 days of touring Spain, Portugal and France.
