How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed as part of a stop over before we hit the tunnel. The accommodation is a beautiful renovated house in the centre of the old town. The room was enormous with vast height sealing and double bunk beds with an additional supper king bed. Additional relaxation room and gym room. The massage chair is amazing! Street parking outside was perfect and the host was lovely putting on a beautiful french breakfast. Recommend for any family or other wise, more than a stop over realy the the little town has some lovely bars and food.

Verified reviewAmazing location in old town. Valerie and dog Mila are warm, welcoming and friendly. Made us feel right at home and took the time to give us some recommendations to eat and do in Boulogne sur mer. Very helpful with bike storage. Immaculately clean and appointed house- stunning presentation. Room and beds very comfortable. Family room was spacious for family of 5 and even had a small fridge. Breakfast super, amazing home pressed orange juice and local bread/pastries at the family breakfast table. Massage chair and gym amazing!! Do try the massage chair- perfect after a 7 hour drive. We would love to come back and spend more time in Boulogne sur mer
We loved everything! Slight noise from road but to be expected given amazing location. And didn't interrupt our sleep (quietened down after 10ish)

Verified reviewLocation was outstanding - within the old town and minutes from the restaurants and city walls. There was no parking on the street when we arrived but there are lots of free spaces extremely close by - less than 5 mins walk. Valerie was exceptionally attentive and found a space outside and coned it off so we could move closer if desired. She was incredibly apologetic that we were leaving so early that we wouldn't make breakfast: we hadn't been expecting to eat so it wasn't an issue for us. It was great to find a family room with spacious comfy beds. It was a little noisy on the road outside but we all slept well. The bathroom was exceptionally clean with a good shower.
Nothing really. We'd booked ages ago and arrived after a long drive, and hadn't quite realised it was a B&B with live-in owners, so were a little surprised and felt a bit bad when our kids were making a bit of noise - but we were made to feel very welcome and would definitely stay again.

Verified reviewEverything was perfect, the only downside was that the blackout shutter on one of the two large windows in the bedroom was broken. It didn't impact sleep too much. Otherwise very pleasant experience, amazing hostess who gave us great tips for eating, played baby football with my 7 year old son after making us a lovely breakfast and was very friendly and chatty 😊
One blackout shutter not working

Verified reviewFabulous breakfasts, great house in the historical center. Valerie was a wonderful hostess, showing interest and giving helpful advice. It was not possible to park directly at the street, but there is a big free car park at Rue de la Tour Françoise, some 15 minutes walk from there. Plus Milo the dog and the massage chair were great attractions for our kids.
At a time of our stay the outside shutter of one of the room windows was broken, which was kind of nuisance because of the noise from the street during the night. Alse the blinds in the bathroom could not be fully closed so the privacy was not 100%.

Verified reviewExcellent location in the old town walking distance from major sights, pubs and restaurants. Beautiful property with accomodating host, good breakfast and all the amenities you need. Perfect for families! Unfortunately only stayed one night but would have enjoyed a couple of days more to explore. Definitely will choose this property again for our next stay. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Verified reviewThe location was superb - inside the walled part of the city, very close to restaurants & the Basilica. Everything was within easy walking distance. Our breakfast, hosted by Valerie, was a lovely introduction to French pastries. Our family of 5 from Australia, were very comfortable in the very large bedroom.
Nothing we didn't like.

Bonus of the gym and massage chair - brilliant for kids to use to unwind. Valerie's dog is lovely and very friendly with children Breakfast was perfect Would recommend for families
Nothing really We were lucky to get the last parking space so I guess that might have been a problem but we didn't find it one.
