Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandIn the lower room, the closest to the stream, might be a bit humid. But open windows during the day solve the issue.
This is the second we stay at monsieur Bernard's. It is definitely not just a stay a hotel, it is really like visiting an old friend. "Old school" bed and breakfast, when a host invites you to the breakfast and enjoys spending time in an unobtrusive talk. Location is wonderful for those, who like buildings with history and rural quite. The host, monsieur Bernard, is incredibly welcoming.

Czech RepublicThis is perfect place to have a rest in the middle of nowhere. Even though the house is just a couple of minutes from the highway it’s calm there. The pool is no so big but we enjoyed a lot of fun there. Bernard is a great host!

SwitzerlandEverything was good!
Staying at La haute verrerie is like staying as a warm welcomed friend at an old noble manor. Incredible hospitality of the host, welcoming tea by the fireplace, fresh baguette and croissants right from the oven, marmalade, butter and other sweetest and nicest things for breakfast - that's what expects the guests there. The Ivory room, where we stayed, is equipped with everything one might need for a comfortable and cosy stay. It also has a terrace, so neatly constructed, that once you are there, it seems you are sitting right on the roof and enjoying the picturesque view over the scenery. Even in February it is an eye catcher. I can't imagine what it looks like in Summer. The house has its own history, dating back to 1800-s. If you are interested, monsieur Bernard can tell you very interesting facts about what was there in the old times. The location is exceptional for those who prefers the stillness and quiet of a rural home on one hand, and the proximity of a town with the shopping possibilities on the other. For speed adepts, the Circuit du Var ring is 15 minutes away driving from the place. We are definitely coming back to La haute verrerie for the next track day at Circuit du Var.

AustraliaWhile the property had charm, the room did not match the description. The ceilings were so low that even at 5'3", we constantly hit our heads. In early July, the room's heat made relaxation impossible despite having all windows open and a small, inadequate fan running. We come from a country with temperatures over 40°C. The listing failed to mention several crucial details, such as the limited access through a narrow, spiral staircase. This staircase has very small triangular stair treads, coupled with low ceilings inside the staircase, so you need to be very careful not to miss a tread and slip. Additionally, the property photos are not an accurate depiction and make the room look like it has mostly normal ceiling height. There was no door on the bathroom, the farmhouse didn't have a lock on the front door, and we were advised by the owner not to use the lock on the room door. The dining area was occupied by the host's family and could not be used. There was no WiFi, and the room was so uncomfortable that we left after one night. I notified the host the next day, but he complained about my use of the narrow, dark staircase to get luggage. He mentioned his daughter stayed there without issues, but that’s not the same as a paying guest relying on the property listing for accurate information. Essential details should have been disclosed upfront. I paid for four nights but could only stay one. The host offered a partial refund but required in-person collection, which was intimidating for a solo female traveller in a rural foreign country. Worse, the owner has halted communicating with Booking.com to avoid resolving this. As a well-traveled guest, this is the only negative review I’ve given. The experience was distressing and disappointing.
The experience was immensely traumatic. If I could give a 0 I would.

United KingdomUnfortunately one of the days were walked into the room with sewage coming up through the toilet shower and sink. The host resolved the issue which was a problem with his drains outside but unfortunately didn’t clean the mess up in our room from the sewage and this was left for ourselves to sort. We were provided with three very small thin towels that had to last us all week. No towels were allowed to be washed and rooms were never cleaned.
Breakfast was basic, one croissant and bread. The host was very offended when myself was sick one morning so couldn’t make breakfast. Aswell my partner had to leave for work very early two mornings and this offended the host. The day we were leaving the host followed my friend to her car where he began shouting and screaming at her making her feel very scared and nervous. He was shouting that loud if woke us all up. The reason for his upset was she apperently used to many towels in the week. (2 people staying in the room and they used 4 towels each all week) wifi didn’t work in most rooms and the rooms were very cold.
