Reviews of Hôtel L'Oustalet 2 stars

This is rated at a 2 star hotel so one needs to remember that when commenting. Overall it was a comfortable place to stay. No frills as such but the lunch and evening meals were excellent. The balcony gave us views to the snow capped Pyrenees mountains which was really nice. A great place to stay if you are taking Le Train Jaune as the station is only a 5 mins walk away.

The breakfast doesn’t match the website pictures. On the first morning it was adequate. On the second morning however things weren’t so good. There weren’t that many people staying there so it wasn’t that challenging for the waitress to have sufficient food ready and on display for the guests. But it was a rather tedious process of having to ask her for basic food like bread, bananas and yoghurt. She wasn’t that helpful. Access to rooms - my wife was in a wheel chair (which was clearly visible on check-in) and, although there was a very good lift to the first floor, there was no handrail to help her up the final four steps to the first floor rooms. When I mentioned this on check out the receptionist mentioned that ‘less able’ people are accommodated on the third floor where the lift is on the same level as the corridor to the rooms. There weren’t that many people staying at the hotel so I don’t know why we couldn’t have been placed on the third floor. Having said all of the above if I make the same journey again I would still stay here.

All the staff were very friendly especially Barbara who gave us a lunch when we arrived and normally they don't serve lunch.

The bedrooms were rather overheated despite the radiators being off. It was the underfloor heating which was very warm.

Near the train station (train jaune). 5 min wall from station. Very nice staff. Good and very convenient on site restaurant (very good for value).

Good restaurant with regional cuisine. Breakfast includes fresh regional products. Small but comfortable room with a balcony and beautiful mountain views. Good comfortable bed. Very clean, all plumbing in good condition. There is a new great pool (we didn't try it, it was a bit chilly). We have the best experience of this hotel and the friendly and hospitable staff of the hotel. The hotel deserves more stars. We think that we will come back here. Thank you.
