How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The rooms were small for an Ibis hotel, and the drains in the bathroom smelt horrible. Apparently this is fairly typical in Carcassonne, but it was very off putting. The smell disappeared after running the taps for about half an hour, however.
The hotels location is fantastic. It is a really easy walk across to the old town. It's also very easy to walk into the town centre where there's a lot to do. Parking at the hotel seems to run out quickly but the access road to their car park is horribly tight, and about 15m from the entrance is parking gambetta, which at 7EUR a day is great value.

Staff were polite, but a little indifferent. The night receptionist was unable to help us to remove our second night (computer says no) which needed to be done before midnight and the following day - we were told it was too late.

Rooms were too small for 2 people
Location was good. Secure garage at extra cost. The receptionist that checked us in was amazing the night shift one was grumpy. A lot of money for a box room.

I had known that some of the pavements were very uneven, so for me a 76 year-old, I had come prepared. The location of the hotel I had chosen this year meant that I was able to avoid most of the difficult areas in terms of very uneven pavements - of course this is also part of the "charm" of the fact that a lot of these areas are historic and this is what we - the tourists - are looking for.
The location was exactly what I had wanted, as the other hotel I had booked last year for my visit to Carcassonne, meant some difficulties for me in terms of finding my way to both the castle and the city centre. The location of the Ibis Centre - la cite, meant I had a much better holiday this year, due to the ease with which I was able to find all the places I had wanted to visit. The hotel is also opposite a lovely park with benches under the shelter of many trees. As the temperatures went up to 37 degrees, I found this very important and I could watch the children playing under the water display. Very cooling and restful. Crossing the road to get from the hotel to the park was extremely easy, especially as traffic always stopped to allow people to cross.

The room is extremely small and the furniture is old. The bed is very uncomfortable.

The room was a bit small for 2 people. As I ended up travelling alone it was ok. Elevator was not working - apparently it was being repaired "for our convenience".

The view from our room at the rear of the property was unpleasant - a large, derelict yard and building (which was also rather eerie). This is in contrast to the front of the hotel which looks out on to the impressive Gambetta Square

The lift was being restored but this is accepted as just bad luck for us as we had to walk up two flights of stairs.
It started with a very friendly and professional welcome from two staff and their supervisor. They were proactive, supplying us with a local map and explaining local navigation including good dining facilities without being prompted. The breakfast with extra kudos for the electric orange juicer - best juice this holiday. Location is close to the fortress and a 15-20 minute easy walk to town.

Rather noisy rooms, heavy doors that bang, hair in shower, run down old decor rooms, annoying bedding that didn’t tuck under mattress
