Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicI was disappointed from the hotel reguired the deposit / guarantee of 300 €. Hard to understand why, when the room equipment rememberred good old years including the small flat screen TV. This is the first time what I had to face this kind of demand :) The deposit was unblocked at check-out, but in real was not return in a week and I had to claim at my bank to get money back. Hey common on.....

Czech RepublicComunication with the hotel would need much improvement. If you're travelling by car, there is a gate with no ring and you have to call the reception cause they won't send you entrance code in advance. We waited more than 5 minutes to get in and no one answered the phone. Luckily some other car apperead and let us in. When I asked about it the recepionist, she told me "they had a client". Even if it's not cheap hotel, you have to pay a deposit (50 euro), which can't be paid by phone and you have to use plastic credit card or cash.
Location is great and this is basicaly what you pay for, because the rest is overpriced. Rooms are nice but the equipment of the terrace is worn. Very nice pool (hotel area, not apartments one). Be aware-if you're using iPhone maps to get to the hotel, it may lead you from the other side via another hotel area and you won't get there-we had to go back and it took another 30 minutes to get to the hotel.

United KingdomThe reception area looks a little cheap like a holiday camping reception, but that’s only a minor as the staff inside were super.
Really great location , quiet and had a view of the sea. The grounds were tidy and staff helpful and friendly. Comfortable beds and pillows. Great shower. Easy , chilled, relaxing. 10 minute walk to the most beautiful beach. Lots of great beach bars but it does get extremely busy during the height of summer. Go later or earlier to get a good spot.

EstoniaThe area is gated, so you need a code to get in, but they don't give you the code when you make the booking. So, you go there and the gat is closed which does not make you feel welcomed. There's a number on the gate that you need to call, so they can let you in. This information should be provided upfront, as to not have guests standing behind the gate confused on how to get in. If you follow the signs to the parking lot, there's no signs there to guide you to the reception. It's a fairly big area, so you need to search around to figure out where you need to go. Some of the staff was very nice, but there were some that seemed almost annoyed by my arrival. Upon my arrival I was asked if I'm staying in the Hotel or the Residence. Honestly, I did not know. I booked a place that seemed to match my requirements, but what they call it exactly is not something I should be quizzed on. I provided my ID and the person at the reception should just look up my name on the system, give me the key and guide me to my room. Even if they have two different systems, they should just look for my information from both of them. There's no need to get the guest to search through their emails to find out how this exact room in the same place is categorized. After a 6-hour hike in the mountains I got back to my room around 15:30 only to find that they were out of hot water. This to me is completely unacceptable in a hotel. It wasn't even a peak season. They give you a code to access the pool, but the keypad for the pool doesn't even have some of the letters that were part of the code. What's more the code is actually not needed and you just have to mess about with the gate handle. The shower for the pool was outside the gated area. So, you need to put your things on the ground, take the shower, then pick jour stuff up while wet and fiddle around with the gate to get in, and only then can nicely make yourself comfortable at the lounger.
The room was with a balcony and a nice view. The breakfast area also had an amazing view of the sea and the mountains. All-in-all the rooms were nice but there's definitely a many areas for improvement.

United KingdomWe did not stay at Castell’Verde. On arrival we were told that the hotel was not open, we were being upgraded to a superior hotel some distance along a track which was not easy to negotiate with busy traffic coming and going to beach car parks. The new hotel was 4 star not 3 star, but this was not what we wanted, a beach hotel was not what we had booked and we do not understand why we were not told in advance and given a choice of alternative accommodation. Indeed since booking.com is still asking us for reviews we wonder whether they were told of the change of arrangements

SwitzerlandThis place is "industrially" managed based on size and therefore loses out on charm: Late check out by a few minutes is punished with €20 per hour Service is not tailored to the guests' need, rather centrally managed and certainly not as stated on the website, overall no good value for money: - Swimming pool was closed for reparation during our entire stay of 4 days (consequently the second pool being completely overcroweded and impossible to use for relaxation) - Sidewalks inside the resort were not cleaned and polluted with rubbish lying around - There is nowhere to hang wet swimming clothes or freshly washed laundry - a basic requirement of a beach hotel. Bear this in mind when travelling longer periods with a baby or small children and needing to wash dirty clothes. When asking the reception, it was advised to use the tumble driers instead. Strange solution for laundry drying as a beach resort with average temperatures of +30°C. - A minor one but still worth mentioning: No option to deposit keys at the reception during absences (it is no card like in most sites nowadays but an old-fashioned door key with a big & heavy key chain). The reason itself exemplifies the lack of trust represented by the hotel staff: There is a risk that unwanted personnel may enter the room..
Great location close to the beach, great view of the lagoon, despite the bumpy & narrow car ride in 10 min distance from the resort there is a very good restaurant with sea view on the lagoon called Moby Dick (for half-board bookings with the hotel)
