Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOur room was classed as a superior room but it was not shown on the hotel’s website and it was quite basic, at the back of the hotel looking out onto a wall and a metal roof. The restaurant was only open at lunchtime and the bar closed at 20.30, which is earlier than we like and meant we couldn't have a nightcap when we got back from our evening meal.
The hotel is in a great location a few minutes walk from the old town and the restaurants. The breakfast was quite good. The water pressure in the hotel was really good and the shower was hot and powerful. All the parking in Pontarlier is free and plentiful, though most of it is in blue bays which are short stay only. However, there are some longer term car parks with white bays, which are long stay. We found a couple of them around 5 minutes walk away from the hotel and the car was safe when we parked overnight for several nights.

United KingdomThe hotel did not operate a restaurant on the Sunday and Monday we were there. Therefore we ate four meals at the Brasserie de la Poste, which seemed to be the only restaurant open in Pontarlier on those days.
The hotel was well-situated being a ten-minute walk from the railway station and then a five minute walk to the Musee Municipal D’Art et D’Histoire, which was the main purpose of our visit, and the starting point for our three hour walking round trip along the River Doubs to the Chateau de Joux. The Hotel is clean and comfortable and all appliances worked and we felt safe throughout our visit. The hotel staff were friendly and visible at all times for check-in, check-out and to pay the bills. We were also allowed to check-in early which enabled us to deposit our bags easily. The breakfast was fine. The hotel operates a bar, which was welcome after the walk to Chateau de Joux and the day spent in the Museum.

United KingdomWe had booked the hotel because it advertised a restaurant but that is only open lunch hours 4 days a week. There were no drinks making facilities in the room which should be a given for a 3* in this price range.
Comfortable beds, service at breakfast was very good

GermanyWe had troubles to lock the door to the toilet. The restaurant does not offer dinner. The hotel does not have an own parking space. There is no air conditioner but we were able to cool the room down by opening the windows. The shower was a little bit to hot for me and I had problems to manage the temperature.
The hotel was near the city centre. There are short parking spots and a free parking place a few minutes to walk. The hotel has a restaurant where you could get lunch and a bar. We didn't test it but it looked nice and popular. A late check- in is possible. The bed was comfy and everything was clean. Our room was located at the back of the building so traffic noise was no problem. They offered pretty nice shampoo and body lotion. The breakfast was okay. Everyone received one Croissant, some ham and cheese. Yoghurt, Coffee, hot chocolate, juices, Baguette and muesli.

United KingdomNothing to do with the hotel, would like to see more restaurants open on a Sunday - however on flip side fair play to France still respecting Sundays for family etc.
Lovely hotel in the town centre, lots of local restaurants ( not many open on Sundays ) . Ideal stop over as we were heading through Switzerland !

SwitzerlandWe were cheated. We book a room for 3 persons and told the hotel that we were two adults and one 4-year-old child. We did not mention that we have a baby (one year old) Upon check-out, the hosts told us that we have to pay for 2 additional children. We told them that paying for one additional child is fine by us (even though its just a small baby), but that we paid for the older kid already. To our disbelieve they insisted that we pay for two additional children. After a 15 minutes unfruitful and tiring discussion, we had to leave since our train departed, and we just paid. VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!
