Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWaiting staff rather unhelpful at times. We didn’t understand arrangements for snacks or lunch. Wine bar lacking in atmosphere and waitress unable to provide Port which was available just up the stairs.
Beautiful decor throughout. Spacious and well appointed rooms with excellent shower and comfortable bed. Front desk staff so helpful and friendly. Shuttle bus to St Emilion was very useful.

CanadaThey were short of staff, and we arrived to find that their dinners were fully booked! It was just a surprise as we had no problem finding great restaurants. On another occasion, we wanted to have some lite bites and it was 36 outside. There was no place to have them inside that would have a table as they would not allow us to use the dining room.
The staff were great it was just that they were short of staff!

AustraliaWe absolutely LOVED our stay here! As a single parent with two children, the hotel staff were so helpful, and the facilities were fantastic! We requested a ground-floor room, which we were granted with a terrace. The little touches for the children - mini robes and slippers/ little toy dog (the girls loved), and soaps, etc.- made them feel so special! Couldnt fault our stay at all. The bed was a dream to sleep in.

The location close to St Emilion, the ambience, the setting, the beautiful building, the out door dining, swimming pool,in fact everything. Lovely Chateau experience. Probably the best we've ever had in France and we've travelled alot throughout France over the years. Even the parking was so easy and so close. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff.

Hong KongThe food at the restaurant: “looks” good but the taste and quality is average. Wine by the glass selection is subpar and overpriced. Breakfast was of good quality but the selection rather limited.
Beautiful property with a nice pool. Great and comfortable rooms. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

United StatesLoved it one hundred percent, the only thing to keep in mind as a visitor, is that it may be tough to get any kind of uber. Taxi might be easier, but the town and area are pretty classic, so If you want to go around to a bunch of other vineyards in one day, consider renting a car. They have ample parking that does not cost extra.
The grounds are absolutely stunning, and the interiors of this hotel are absolutely spectacular. They have beautiful bikes you can ride around the Vineyard, the restaurant had FABULOUS wines and sauternes that blew me away. The accommodations are gorgeous, even for the standard room. The spa was so relaxing, and easily accessible. The gardens were breathtaking. Absolutely stunning start to finish.

Incredible chateau stay just a stone’s throw away from Saint Emilion town. A historic building with modern facilities and excellent hospitality. The spa and pool were perfect for relaxation, whilst the dining options were terrifically indulgent, with a tremendous choice across the restaurant and bars. The rooms were spacious and peaceful, with glorious views of the surrounding vineyards. The staff were really helpful and professional. The food and drink were unbelievable, but the restaurant was the star; one of the finest dinner services I have ever experienced - the team were incredible.

IrelandAll good
Everything. Amazing staff, beautiful food. If you don’t want fine dining every night you can eat in the wine bar. Lovely breakfast with hot food to order. Spa and pool are great. We had massages with Jane and Janice who were both fantastic. Pool service very good. Great housekeeping service, rooms well looked after. Hire bikes are great and we took the back road to St. Emillion. Well done how the chateau marries with the new architecture. Balcony in bedroom looking out on the vineyard is breathtaking. Decor of the bedroom and the Chauteau beautiful, no expense has been spared. Overall a fantastic stay and break away from life. All staff have a smile and “Bonjour” when they meet you. 🙏

United KingdomBreakfast was disappointing, expected better, staff were less attentive than other staff, buffet choice was very poor, tinned fruit! We were not made aware of options available from the kitchen and one order was completely forgotten. I asked for poached eggs on toast with arrived on bread without butter. The position of the lift ruins the interior look of the chateau’s beautiful staircase
Good facilities, very comfortable, great reception, restaurant and wine bar staff. Dinner was superb with a wonderful outlook and brilliant staff.
