How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery big house, steps away from the entrance to LA cité de Carcassonne. Had anything one might need and more. Super clean too, highly recommended.

Verified reviewSuper house in a brilliant location, as close to the medieval city as you could be without actually being inside it. Hosts warm and welcoming; we had a fantastic weekend here.

Verified reviewThe location of tis property is superb, its very near to the walled city just a short walk. The Gite is located on a working vineyard which did not impact in any way, in fact it was most interesting. One of the friendly workers directed us to a house (part of the vineyard) so we could purchase bottles of the wine it produced. We left very happy indeed. I would without any doubt recommend this Gite as a base to visit Carcassonne.
On arrival the handover of the property was not the best. Our host (a little English spoken) did explain the various workings of the Gite, but we later struggled with access to the WIFI (no phone signal in this area) so it was essential it worked. Sometime later we worked out how to do a reset which sorted this problem. Information on the property does state the host spoke English, this language barrier may have contributed to our issue. Suppose in the scale of things the problem was resolved and did not detract from a lovely stay in Carcassonne, in a superb property.

Verified reviewThis typical rustic french gite suited our group very well with plenty of space for 8 adults from a social walking group. Sylvie was very welcoming and easily contactable with our ETA. Location was excellent being only 5 minutes from the medieval city with easy walking access to the French countryside and 5.5km from Lake Cavayere. The kitchen was complete with fridge freezer with ice maker, dishwasher built in cooking facilities and a utility room with washer/dryer. Plenty of coffee making facilities and the all important toaster for the morning. The lounge complete with TV, don't expect any English speaking channels, has free wifi available and comfortable seating for the majority of our group. You will need to have a fair grasp of the language as the owners are well er...French Speakers. Access is easy if you have a vehicle with plenty of parking space. In its own grounds and next to a vineyard and other farm facilities, and comes complete with its own little dog, Simba!
Just a couple of minor areas that we missed but did not detract from our enjoyment. The BBQ outside was not so clean we might have liked to use this but there are plenty of restaurants around. The garden could do with a little attention and perhaps get rid of the trampoline but again we were able to sit out in the evening on the edge of the garden and talk to Simba who seemed to be quite fond of ham and cheese. 😁

Verified reviewThe location was perfect and the owners were very helpful. We do not speak French so it was a little difficult. That is why we did not ask for pillows.
The pillows. There were no pillows on the beds. Just a flat bolster and some cushions.

Verified reviewThe Gite is situated 5mins walk from the Medieval City. The kitchen facilities had everything you needed and the beds were very comfortable. The shower in the double bedroom was powerful and perfect temperature. The host ordered 2 taxi’s for us and when one was a little late was even prepared to take us themselves . All in all 5star service .

Verified reviewThe property was charming, set in a vineyard, and superbly situated for visiting the Citadel at Carcassonne. The people we met working at the vineyard were very friendly. The kitchen was spacious and very well appointed, and the laundry facilities were welcome. The lounge was also spacious and comfortable, as were the bedrooms.
There was air con but only downstairs in the kitchen. The bathroom needed a proper shower. The downstairs toilet was strangely situated off the lounge. There were one or two other small details, eg where to hang wet towels in the en-suite.

Verified reviewLocation excellent for access to the cite and also for bus connections to airport and easy walk into the main part of town and canal du midi
Good for number of bedrooms and living room comfort. There were 4 of us all adult sisters, however had we been there as couples another walk in shower would have been useful, but could be worked around with the shower over the bath

Verified reviewWe loved this property in the shadow of the castle. Four comfortable beds/rooms. Shower in one bedroom, shared bathroom for other 3 bedroom, separate toilet downstairs wasn't a problem. The house is in a working farm, which wasn't a problem. Parking was great. Great kitchen. Short walk to the castle.
Wasn't anything we didn't like.

Verified reviewPerfect location only a few mins from the walled city. The property is very spacious and comfortable and was ideal for our group of 8. The outdoor area is great and it was really interesting to see the comings and goings of the vineyard trators. The electric BBQ/grill is really handy. The accommodation is quiet and set away from other properties, attached to a barn. The little farm dog (never found out his name) is absolutely adorable and visited each day.
As with any holiday accommodation, a sharp knife would have been handy :) Can't think of anything else!
