Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Management were a delight . Gwendolinda taking time to show us the nearby metro and even helping us purchase tickets for our ongoing journey from Paris. The room was lovely and spacious, clean and with a super view. Hotel was very well located for Le Marais and the Seine. We would stay here again.

United KingdomThe rooms are very small but the bed was big enough for us, the shower was a glass shower unit, which is not a problem unless you are shy. Who cares about limitations if you are enjoying yourself out and about in Paris.
Great location, nice large windows looking out over the street if you are on that side of the building, the smallest lift I have ever seen but makes for a fun photo, and the lovely and most helpful receptionist, Gwendoline.

SwitzerlandDidn't particularly like that the shower and bathroom sink were in the same space - so everything on the sink counter had to be moved or got wet, but the shower and bathroom finish was nicely decorated. The elevator is incredibly small - but that's a Parisian thing - was happy to have an elevator in any case as I was on the 5th floor.
The hotel was in an incredible location, 1 minute away from the metro, shopping, restaurants, bars and 10 minute walk to Notre Dame - amazing. The price value was exceptionally high and the room was well appointed and freshly renovated (could still smell the new paint). Beds and room were comfy, nice to have air conditioning and a small balcony. Had a good night's sleep and overall the room was quite quiet, although you could hear when people next door got home around 3;00 am - thankfully they went to bed quickly so I was able to fall back to sleep.

FranceNo cupboard or hanging space or coat hangers, just hooks, nowhere to sit (except little wooden stool), nowhere for bags. Shower with clear glass in the bedroom. Room seemed to be set up for just 1 person, 1 cup, 1 glass though there was the 2 sets of towels.
Great location. Near taxi rank. Balcony with views. Good wi-fi. Quality croissants at breakfast. Coffee machine available all day. Airconditioning.

SingaporeOpen shower without curtain. Felt a bit cold and exposed. Drainage (shower and sink) was a bit slow and I ended up flooding half the bedroom and wetting my baggage and clothes on the floor despite a quick shower. Guessing this is a once-off occurrence and if not, I would still choose to stay here again.
Great location. Super cute. Reception host (Gwendolyn) was really lovely. Great view of the street. Felt safe. Tiny cute lift.

CanadaAir conditioning wasn't working in the hotel on our first night, but it was fixed by the morning thankfully - because it was very hot. The sink didn't drain well at all. Staff could have been friendlier and more helpful.
Location was fantastic - less touristy than other areas in Paris and close to the metro stop. Room was more spacious than expected, with a wardrobe and shelving for storage. View from the balcony was exceptional!

United KingdomHas a very, very tiny lift which was not so great (& would be difficult for someone large with lots of luggage) and the winding stairs very narrow too.

AustraliaThe lift is very small. The glass shower screen needs a safety strip indicating that it is clear glass. I almost walked through it twice. I have pointed this out to the staff and I believe they will attend to this matter.
A good French style breakfast, with good coffee, which was much appreciated.

Czech RepublicThe rooms are a bit small, but not too small -- it's Paris after all. The elevator has occasional problems. They will store your luggage for you before check in and after check out, but its right out in the lobby/breakfast room. Still under the watchful eye of the staff, however.
The Hotel Emile is in an excellent location! It's on the edge of the Marais, which is is an interesting area in itself, but it is also only a few steps from Metro St. Paul, which is on the no.1 Metro line, with quick and easy connections to anywhere in the city. The room we had was clean as a whistle, and has the big windows that make a Paris hotel Parisian (upper floor recommended). There is even air conditioning. Breakfast is the simple pastry and coffee that is typically French, but it seems adequate when you eat it. If not, there is an American breakfast place next door. The staff, particularly Gwendolyn at the front desk, are very pleasant and accommodating, English speaking. There's a fun market at the Place de la Bastille that is only a couple of blocks away, as is the Seine river. The Favorite bistro right next door is a great place for people watching from the outdoor tables. You will be in many of the photos tourists take home because they love the profusion of flowers that decorate the bistro. There are restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, clothiers, and other shops galore in the immediate vicinity.
