Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomParking may have been tricky if we hadn’t arrived after 6.30 on a Saturday evening with parking free after that time and on Sunday but there are plenty of spaces in the square. The staff were OK, not overly helpful but fine.
It’s location

BelgiumThis time (3rd stay within a month's time) there was no door between the room and the bathroom facilities. Just a curtain. One can imagine the smells and sounds! The outside restaurant tables cannot be booked in advance, not even for hotel guests. The only tables left were for 4 persons, whilst other groups of 4 sat at 2 x 2 person tables. We were not allowed a table for 4, so we decided to have dinner elsewhere on the market place. Although in average this hotel is good value for money, this time's experience makes us think twice before booking again. On nice summer days, the noise from the lively marketplace continues until deep in the night, so difficult to sleep with the windows open in a hot stuffy room.
Centrally located on the historical market place opposite of the carpark entrance. Restaurant with nice terrace outside and a good choice of menus. Lift. During our first 2 stays we had a convenient room and bathroom. Ventilator to keep us as cool as possible.

United KingdomWe're glad we weren't staying a few days earlier at the height of the heatwave as there is no air conditioning in the rooms.
Great location on the Grande Place - plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Although our room overlooked the square and it was Friday night, the noise wasn't enough to keep us awake. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was good and reasonably priced. There's an underground car park nearby. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially the guy on reception. We would stay again if in the area.

Breakfast was plentiful, and a great menu for evening meals in the restaurant. Front row seats for the Tour de France were a wonderful bonus.

United KingdomEverything was fine.
This hotel is comfortable and very pleasantly situated on the main square in Bethune. The staff are super nice, friendly and helpful. Initial anxieties about the loud bells from the bell tower spoiling our sleep were allayed when we realised they do not chime in the night or early in the morning. There is a good restaurant downstairs with once again lovely helpful staff. We didn’t stay for Breakfast as we were en route to the tunnel which is just over an hour’s drive.

United KingdomThe noise - they can't really do much about it, you're on the main town plazza... so don't expect a quiet night. The wifi still leaves a bit to desire and when my husband got on with his, it wasn't safe. My Apple devices simply refused to allow the connection.
The welcome and service is always amazing; they make you feel at home. It's a very central location and this time we can at Xmas, with the market and therefore one of the busiest times of the year. The restaurant downstairs was packed, the staff were on their knees, but they had time for us and treated us well. The room met expectations - spacious and comfortable. Any additions we would need can be met given the location at the centre of the city.

United KingdomParking not free except overnight. However the receptionist explained that after 6pm no charge as a public car park. It wasn’t that expensive but in high season would be an issue. Woken by some ‘happy’ pub drinkers so had there been air con the window would have been closed.
The location was good. Lovely view over the square. Good to have a lift. Bed very comfortable. Shower excellent. Restaurant great food and reasonable. Learned about ‘Welsh’ a local dish introduced by the Welsh. Reception excellent and helpful.
