Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceDidn’t take breakfast. Hotel is very nice, clean and very comfortable. Bathroom small but clean and had all that was needed. Staff very friendly, good information provided. Easy walking distance of the old Lyon.

FranceThe bed is too small for 2 people, it was impossible to sleep. The entrance is smelly, dark, with some completely wearied carpet on the stairs. Probably this part of the building does not belong to the hotel, but you still have to pass through it to get in. It's quite unpleasant.
Excellent location. The staff was very nice. The room was clean.

United KingdomRoom 9 En-suite shower room cramped and bad layout. Toilet too close to opposite wall, and shelf above basin meant you hit your head on shelf when trying to use basin! Adjustment to en-suite layout would make significant improvement.
Great location. The male staff member who checked us in was especially helpful and kind, and went to great lengths to speak slowly and clearly so that I could practice my French comprehension which was much appreciated. (Staff also speak English but he was happy to let me practice my French). The hotel simple but functional, clean and friendly.

AustraliaThe stairwell leading up to the first floor Reception was dark and there was very old worn out carpet on the stairs and I was a bit shocked to see that . The stairs are old grey stone and the carpet covered the middle strip of the stairs so it all looked quite ugly .
Very clean in the hotel , my room and bathroom . The Reception staff were wonderful- very helpful and kind , particularly Camille ! She made my stay extra pleasant.

United KingdomYou don't always have a kettle in French hotels so it was a nice surprise, however once I'd used up the two Nescafe sachets I was asked to pay if I wanted more!!!!!!! Arriving from the Airport by Rhonexpress? When you get to Lyon Part-Dieu station, walk all the way through to the other side and then outside again following the signs saying Metro B - get a single ticket ( they last a hour ) ticket machines are in English too, take Metro B direction St Genis Leval to Saxe-Gambetta then change to Metro D direction Gare de Vaise and get off at Bellecour, leave the station, cross the road into Rue Victor Hugo and the hotel doorway is next to a branch of Nicolas Wines...
I do like a quirky hotel and Hotel Dauphin ticked the boxes, reminiscent of hotels I visited in my childhood, on the second floor, above some shops with one of those old fashioned lifts that hold just 2 people, you press a buzzer to be admitted and the staff are very friendly, baggage storage for pre and post stays. Lots of remarks on here about how small the rooms are, mine wasn't that small, shower/toilet was spacious and newly decorated. Room itself was traditional French, that blue/green institutional paint, big windows and Juliette balcony onto the street. Rue Victor Hugo is a shopping street and wasn't too noisy at night! The hotel is a few yards from the Metro station in the Place Bellecour (a couple of yards more and you're at the Tourist info centre too) If you like a bland chain hotel the Hotel Dauphin may not be for you but I enjoyed my stay.

JapanI was in a room facing the street and it was noisy outside.
It was in a very clear location. This time I checked in at the last minute, but the hotel contacted me and told me how to get in in case I couldn't make it in time. The receptionist was very helpful.

United StatesHotel du Dauphin was a fine place to stay mainly due to its convenient location quite near the Place Bellecour and within very easy walking distance to Vieux Lyon and Lyon Perrache Station. It is located on the first floor of the building and you will be given a code to enter both the building and the hotel during late hours so there is a good feeling of security for the solo traveller. The rooms are very spacious compared to the European standard which I know will be an essential from some travelers. The concierge was very helpful and went out of his way to make the experience a pleasant one and was very patient with my attempts at speaking French.

AustraliaThere were some odd little things, including the bathroom setup, but I think the hotel has been retrofitted into one or two floors of the building.
This hotel is well located and excellent value for money. Staff were so helpful and friendly- thank you! The room had fabulous tall French windows opening to the street below, which is now pedestrian only.

United StatesI had booked room with 2 beds and chose this property specifically because that was an available choice. However, I got a room with just one bed and no responsible party was reachable to do anything about it. When I asked if they’d refund me if I went to different hotel I was told they couldn’t guarantee it since I booked through booking.com. Also room and bathroom are very small. And finally, the check in instructions are emailed, not available anywhere on the app. So if for some reason you don’t have access to your email before entering the space you will be out of luck. I think the whole thing could be a lot more user friendly. Lastly, no parking. So if you’re driving I’d recommend getting a different hotel for sure.
Location on walking street which means not a lot of street noise. Also mattress is comfortable and black out shades a plus.

FranceThe shower fixings were loose and not connected properly. The phone in the room was very dirty. There was no space in the wardrobe to hang clothes as it was full of spare duvets (4!) and pillows. The breakfast was disappointing and expensive for what you get (a coffee, juice, croissant and a piece of baguette). Stick with the continental option as the extra money for the whole buffet was not worth it - very little choice of anything extra.
Bed was comfortable. Rooms were recently painted and decorated. The reception/breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. I really liked having a coffee machine in the room. Great location.
