Everything was great. Only negative is the stairs in the cottage could be a bit hard to get up if you were not good on your feet.

What a gem! We booked for 2 night and booked for a 3rd night when we saw how nice it was. It was a little cottage with a garden for our dog. A much needed rest for us all. Comfy bed. Well equiped kitchen & nice bathroom. The pool is a relief in the heat.

I loved staying at Montboulard! I stopped over just for the night on my drive to Germany and wow, what a pleasant surprise! The premises are beautiful!!! The room was very nice, spacious, clean and comfortable, i slept like a baby! The hotel manager is super nice and everyone else was very friendly! This is one of the few times at Booking that everything was better than expected! I would love to stay here again.

Loved it so much last year we came back again this year! Great place with fantastic amenities. Just how we remembered it. The pool was very much needed and welcomed during the hot spell and even though there were plenty of people using it it didn’t feel cramped.

It was unusually cold overnight and there was no hearing in the room because the boiler had not yet been switched on for the autumn

A fabulously restored farm stay with extensive grounds and outdoor pool. Quiet semi-rural location yet just a few minutes drive from a hypermarket and restaurants. We stayed in cottage No.9 which was much larger than we expected and very comfortable. There are some nice walking trails directly from the the bottom of the gardens which were perfect for walking our dog.

A few niggles - the quality of the internet connection was hit and miss; it would have been great if the fridge and freezer opened towards the kitchen and not the wall; and some of the pans needed replacing.

The two bedroom 'townhouse' we stayed in was spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. Besides our own private garden, the domaine has great facilities - pool, table tennis etc. and access to the adjacent woods. Road noise is low and only obvious at certain places outside. We mostly used our bikes while staying and found it convenient that the commercial centre was at the end of the access road and that we could easily get to Angouleme and the surrounding area (Touvre valley).

Is there anything we didn't like? No.

The Domain is located in the hinterland of Soyaux, near Angoulème, surrounded by forest regions. Albeit the national road is close, it's not in any way disturbing. And it's gorgeously pretty! I felt like a queen, two centuries back. :-) The owners are nothing but great. Very accessible, knowledgable about anything culture or food, and they truly love their gardens. You feel like the best, favourite customer. True hosts. We loved the aspect of getting together with others at breakfast (love it or leave it...); it adds a cozy, friendly value and brings together people. The breakfast itself is very nicely presented and if you should miss something, it appears by sheer magic.

If I had to make any adjustments, I would have hoped for a little more maintenance of the small garden at our cottage for a more usable space. There was a peculiar smell when we arrived which we fixed with some scented candles, I presume the age of the property doesn't help with this. A more used common area would be nice for evenings with perhaps a bar option? Even a guest gathering once a week would really help to create an atmosphere, perhaps a bbq or pizza night with music. Honesty those were minor things I would adjust for the dream stay, everything was great.

The place is beautiful with a fabulous pool, great local amenities and a real rural French feel. We loved the ping pong and sports additions which were welcomed with young boys. A lovely, slow paced break for us which was much needed. Definitely recommend hiring a car as there are so many incredible spots locally to visit. Staff were super helpful and anything we needed, it was never too much trouble.
