Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSmall swimming pool that should not be shared with children if we are talking about ‘peacefulness’ and ‘tranquility’. More lounge chairs around the pool would help too.
Excellent setting. Friendly staff and comfortable bedroom. A wonderful restaurant with beautiful view, amazing atmosphere, very polite & professional staff and exquisite cuisine!

United KingdomMaybe the breakfast could have been refilled more quickly - felt like it ran out too fast for the amount of people dining.
The grounds were beautiful, I slept fantastically and lake offered a stunning view out of room window. A diversity of trees and plants populating the well-kept garden. The pool entertained the children. The dinner at the restaurant was exquisite.

United KingdomWe were unable to put our drinks in the bar on our room tab, then discovered they had been added, even though we had paid for them separately. But the receptionist sorted it all out and explained that the software in the dining room hadn't yet been installed. There was also a large coach party staying at the hotel at the same time and it was a bit confusing.
The staff were very helpful. Our room was very comfortable and the food in the dining room was excellent. The atmosphere was really tranquil too.

JerseyNot using what they already have to highest potential. No music on in the bar area before dinner. Very lack lustre atmosphere for a Friday night. No fires lit in the stunning fireplaces. Staff need more training. Why face dining tables directly to windows in the evening when it is completely dark outside. Nothing to look at expect your reflection. Very odd! Shower power was dismally weak and if you’re taller than 5ft 11 then you will hit your head in showerhead! No shelf in the shower for your own products.
Beautiful property and location. Nice welcome. Excellent chef and great wine list.

NetherlandsReally nice place and a great experience, but if I have to pick something I would say that scrambled eggs at breakfast looked terrible and industrial. There's a bathrobe in a room but no slippers.
Excellent property, beautiful grounds, historic stone house building, very nice room. We booked a comfort room and we were allocated a room with direct access to the garden. Really special. The room was spacious, nicely decorated in a traditional style. Bed was comfortable (a bit too stiff in my opinion but still comfortable), bathroom was decent and the water kettle with quality tea bags was a very nice treat (after all it's north west France, most of the year it's pretty cold and a tea is always nice to conclude the day). There's a restaurant at the hotel, it is a michelin recommended restaurant. We had dinner there on the first night. We thought it was just OK. All very proper but it could have been better (food wise). Breakfast was good, nice friendly service. Parking next to the room was very comfortable. We booked 1 hour spa - which costs 20 Euros per person. It nice to have the spa for yourself, dry and wet sauna and a small jacuzzi. It was nice after a day sight seeing to warm up before dinner time. Service was friendly and professional. All staff members were extremely nice and responsive before and during our stay. Location - it's a real country side place, nothing to do around. Beautiful grounds and nature but quite remote and there's literally no where to eat or drink in the vicinity of the hotel. To get to Saint Malo and Dinard count a 30 minutes drive. It is not that close. To Mont Saint Michel (go there early morning or later in the afternoon to avoid to hordes of tourists) is about 45 minutes drive. We visited Avranches after Mont Saint Michel, just a town, beautiful, not touristy and with beautiful botanic garden and a cathedral.

BelgiumSwimming pool could be heated more as 24 degrees is really cold especially when weather is not super nice.
Really nice place, very quiet with an excellent restaurant. Rooms are spacious, staff is very friendly and giving nice recommendations for visits or restaurants. The restaurant is a gastronomy one where they offered me a gluten free menu with excellent bread ! Also for breakfast they did accommodate my gluten intolerance.

United KingdomWe had to carry two heavy suitcases up the stairs. Perhaps you should highlight the fact there is no lift. We were disappointed not to use the spa. The jacuzzi was broken, so it didn't seem worth while (especially with it being too cold to use the outdoor pool)
The food was wonderful and the wine-pairings were spot on. The server / sommelier really made the evening meal a wonderful experience.

GermanyMinibar/fridge would be nice to keep drinks cool. Otherwise just beautiful, loved my stay.
Historic building surrounded by beautiful forests. Observes a beaver, kingfisher and herons right at the lake in front of the hotel. Great atmosphere and good breakfast, though some vegetables would be nice.

United KingdomThe staff was extremely friendly and worked hard but the place was understaffed. The WiFi kept dropping out. Whilst the other was clean and tidy, it was in some parts dated, which is not reflective of the pictures in Booking and is a little misleading for the price charged.

United KingdomWe really liked the hotel and would stay again if we wanted to be in that part of France. See above for what we were not thrilled with ie the service in the restaurant. There seemed to be one waitress and a trainee, the main waitress needed to delegate some tasks so that she could fulfil her tasks like ensuring that the wine was served at the right time and not missing out the 'petits fours'.
The room was lovely. Beautiful view over the gardens. Very comfortable bed and good shower. Very peaceful place to stay. Restaurant was good we had the 5 course tasting menu. The service was very friendly but slightly erratic, things were missed. I wouldn't do the wine pairing again as the wine was not always served with the food it was meant to be with. Breakfast was good, usual meats, cheese and fish.

IrelandNo WiFi in our room and bad phone reception generally in the area. Could do with some boosters around the building..especially with the thick stone walls.

United KingdomDue to our booking error we arrived a month early but the staff were charming and extremely helpful in changing our reservation and giving us early access to our room to dress for an afternoon wedding. Hotel is in a lovely building, beautifully situated in a natural environment and staffed by a delightful team. Novel use of high quality pre-prepared food enabled the receptionist to quickly and efficiently provide an excellent light meal to suit our time schedule.
