As it is a traditional property the stairs are steep which made accessing the second floor room a bit of a challenge. Parking is free on the local streets but it can be difficult to find a vacant spot.

The house is a beautiful, traditional property with modern facilities. The room was light and bright with a good bathroom and the host was very welcoming. The property is very close to the beach, bars and restaurants.

I could not figure how to turn on the heat in my room, but didn't discover that fact until everyone in the building had gone to bed for the night. Also, the free parking is street parking, and if I had not lucked into a parking space, I might have had to carry my luggage several blocks, as parking spaces were quite limited. The rooms were up steep stairs, which was to be expected in such a home, but at my age (74) rather a struggle to get luggage up there.

Perfect location, lovely room in a home -- not exactly a hotel of the sort I expected, but quite nice, and the owners were gracious and extremely congenial. Nice bath (separate but private), and beautiful decor. Very pleasant.

We were unaware that there wasn’t a lift and our room was on the second floor. If you are travelling with a lot of luggage it pays to be aware that you may have to climb a lot of stairs with heavy bags.

The location was excellent, right beside the beach and close to local bars and restaurants. Public transportation was easily accessible and free to use. The accommodation itself is absolutely beautiful and well equipped. We were served a fantastic breakfast and our host was very friendly and welcoming. He was very accommodating in spite of the fact that we don’t know any French.

Loved the nearness to the promenade and beach. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly despite us turning up a bit later than planned. Room was great despite the climb to the second floor. Breakfast was 10/10 amazing coffee and cheeses and I could have eaten the entire baguette. Will definitely stay again if in Dunkirk.

The location had a lot of loud yelling and drunk people from outside, so it was hard to sleep during the night.

The owner was very friendly and sweet, and quick to assist when needed. The room was also comfortable and the bedding was decent.

If you’re taking heavy bags just know there’s no elevator, so you’ll be lugging it up the stairs like us! But that’s our fault for taking such heavy bags!

The staff were so lovely and explained everything. Facilities were great, nice bathroom and very big rooms. Breakfast was included and it was so amazing!

Chez Marie was in an excellent location, short walk to the beach, town, and museums. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. The staff were so kind and even drove us to the bus station when we left because we didn’t have a car. Would absolutely recommend Chez Marie to anyone and would love to visit again!

Complex local one way street system means it was quite difficult to get to the front of the property facing in the correct direction ! However we left the car parked nearby and used the free buses to visit Dunkirk

An exceptionally helpful attentive host. Great breakfast, 100 yards from sea front and beach restaurants . 200 yards to nearest modern bus service to city centre . ALL BUS SEVICES IN DUNKIRK ARE FREE. Free parking on local streets, We got quite close to the front door.
