Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe breakfast was ok, but didn’t match up to the quality of everything else.
Beautiful location, atmospheric place. Pauline was a great host, very helpful, and gave us a fascinating wine-making tour.

United KingdomIt has a rather sad unkempt look about it. Small details need attending to like a broken chair, window shades broken. No wifi which is a problem as phone signals are also not good. Pool was not fully functional as it had no steps down into the pool.
It’s location, the layout and rooms. The building is lovely. Good that kettle provided in the room but no tea bags only infusions available and no one on call to request tea bags.

New ZealandNo air con and communication very difficult although we coped. No wifi reception in room, only in the lounge some distance away. No electric kettle in room despite there being tea bags and cups. Conflicting check in time. Did not align with Booking.com nor the brochure in the room. Owner said it was 5.30pm I think? But definitely not the time we and another couple arrived at 4pm.
Beautiful Chateau on the outskirts of Puy.

AustraliaNo major things but would be good to have an extra armchair in the room. Bath with handheld shower may not suit everyone. Just a point to note - Dinner needs to be pre-booked and has minimum of 6 people.
Staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed the wine tasting. Very large room and bathroom, with super comfy large bed. Beautiful house and styling is lovely. Walking distance to picturesque town and restaurants. Breakfast with fresh fruit, juice, coffee, baguette and croissant in the breakfast room was lovely.

Beautiful property in a peaceful location for exploring the chateaux and bastides of the Lot/Agenais and Perigord border. Very large room and bathroom. Large comfortable bed. Modern but stylish decor in keeping with chateau setting. Host couldn't be more helpful and showed us around his highly acclaimed winery. Fresh fruit salad at breakfast was a great touch. Highly recommend

United KingdomNothing, we liked everything about our stay
We loved everything about our stay at Chateau Gatoul. The rooms were incredibly large, immaculate and comfortable. The food was exceptional in every way and freshly prepared in the kitchen right by the dining room.

United KingdomHard to fault. Perhaps the wifi around the pool and bedrooms was not stong (although you could easily access the main house where it was fine).
Château Gautoul is situated a 2 minute drive from the honeypot town of Puy L'Eveque on the River Lot. Located in the heart of the Cahors vineyards, this estate stands majestically, inviting visitors to immerse themselves where history, nature and the art of wine intertwine beautifully. Following a warm welcome by Nadine, who introduced us to 'the tigers' (their cats), she showed us to our accommodation. There are 5 rooms, all with air-con, and all the mod cons you could usefully have. The rooms are situated around the main courtyard with a lovely swimming pool nearby. With superb views of the town and the endless vines it is a true haven of peace. The Chateau is open to guests with sitting rooms, games room and a huge kitchen next to the dining-room. There are sitting out areas around the Chateau, a boules court and of course, the winery. Clémence obliged us with an informative tour and dégustation in the atmospheric 'cave'. Breakfast was served in the main house every day by Clémence with fresh produce - fruit, croissant, bread, jams and juice, tea and coffee and offered bacon and eggs [tip - ask for 'Columbian scrambled eggs'!]. But the 'wows' didn't stop there. The versatile Clémence also offered us dinner one night which was a taste sensation - a tomato, water melon and feta starter with a malbec aperitif, a choice of stuffed courgette (beef) or a local fish dish (salted cod and potatoes) and Eton Mess to finish all washed down with their top bottle of wine. A fabulous evening. We absolutely fell in love with Chateau Gautoul. It is a unique place - check out the art work also - run by the family who cultivate it with so much care and passion. Wow!
