Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceHonestly, I can't fault the place. We stayed on our route down to the south and we then booked it again for the journey back up. The 9 instead of 10 rating given because it was a heat wave and we were so hot in the room - we looked for a fan but couldn't find one (I need to say though that we also didn't ask for one, as it was late at night).
The property is a real authentic French chateau and the decor is very fitting, the whole place has been lovingly renovated to a high quality. The welcome drink is something I have never had before at a B&B and I thought it was a nice touch. We really loved the location, it is a few minutes from a town, highly recommend booking a local restaurant in advance if you plan to dinner, we didn't and none had space. The breakfast was delightful; coffee, delicious fresh orange juice, fruit, meat, cheeses, bread, yoghurt, croissants. Really very good! Around the breakfast table everyone was super pleasant and it was a lovely atmosphere. We will be going back for sure.

Switzerland-
Elise inviting us to their beautiful place at arrival and showing us the property and our room made us feel welcome from the very first moment during our short stay at the château. We loved this quiet place, the spacey room and decorations with a well balanced mix of old and modern, the most comfortable large bed and the clean stylish new bathroom. A highlight of our entire, extended roadtrip through France and our stay at the château was the breakfast experience, sharing a large table with fellow guests and enjoying a most splendid and tasty variety of fresh local products. Thank you Elise and Pieter for having us for a (too) short moment - you are wonderful hosts!

SwitzerlandWe had a wonderful stay at this beautiful manor house hotel. The owners renovated everything themselves, and it’s a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. Every detail has been decorated with so much love and care—you can truly see the passion and impeccable taste of the hosts. The breakfast, lovingly prepared by the hostess, was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is located in the peaceful countryside, yet you can reach the nearby town of Moulins in just 10 minutes. Moulins itself has a lot to offer and is definitely worth a visit. The manor is simply stunning, and I would return without hesitation.

United StatesIssues with I get why
This is a lovely old chateau which requires a great deal of care and the owner is truly invested in her customers needs. Her husband set up the table under the tree and we spent time visiting a dear friend with drinks and coffee. The room is spacious and authentic and the bathroom is very modern and very functional. The claw bath tube is very large and while I did not have the time to use it, it was a sight to behold. The only issue was a faux pas on the owner part, however, this was not the end of the world

FranceThe place is great, a paradise of pastoral tranquility and of serenity, I am sure it would be difficult to find anything better, unless one travels to a remote island. Well, if you like people, movement and action, this is not the place for you, otherwise it is simply ideal for relaxing and leaving your problems behind! I have spent many holidays in France in similar B&B places, but the owners of Grand Lucay far surpass any I have seen before. Extremely kind and friendly as one rarely, very rarely finds. Thank you!

AustraliaIt was a wonderful experience, staying in a French chateau in the beautiful wooded landscape of the Allier region. The chateau is framed by tall leafy trees, lawns and gardens. We stayed in a room with views, and woke up to birdsong. Our hosts made us very welcome. We had a sumptuous breakfast at a long table. The room was nicely furnished, with a large and comfortable bed.

FranceA particularly pleasant stay in the heart of the Bourbonnais region, whose gentle quintessence is so beautifully illustrated and palpable at the chateau of Grand Lucay. The reception of the hosts, the house and its environment are luminous, serene and pleasant. The breakfast will satisfy the gourmets who will find, if necessary, the redemption by walking through the 7 hectares of the park or by prolonging the stroll in the multiple paths which furrow the famous bocage of Bourbonnais, unless they prefer, if the weather lends itself to it, the siesta in the sun on the flowered lawn which extends to the foot of the residence The nights are as sweet and beautiful as the days and the gourmets will find within a small radius something to delight their taste buds. A very warm thank you to Elise and Pieter for their kindness and availability.
