Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere's a difference in the style and quality of the hotel itself and the breakfast room. It's still nice but could be more in keeping with the style of the rest of the hotel.
Absolutely stunning hotel. The room felt like we were staying a palace - it was so big. Beautiful gardens and space to hang out and the pool was big and spacious. Staff were so very helpful and friendly. Short walk to a nice bar where you can get light bites to eat too.

United KingdomIt was a lovely place, we stayed in the main chateau where there are beat winding staircases. These were not a problem fir us but could be if you have trouble with stairs
The bedroom was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was served in the building opposite and had very good choices if food. It is in a quiet location with no facilités such as bar within the chateau but a short walk away there is a relais bar/ bistro selling beers/ shared plates. There were beautiful gardens and interesting statues and exhibitions in the garden. There is also a pool which we did not have time to use.

NetherlandsIf i have one small nitpick it has to be that breakfast was good but sliced bread could have been fresher. It felt a bit stale and basically mandatory to toast. But I do think that differs from day to day and was still a very good price for it to be included in my price.
Evening dinner was great, location beautiful and staff friendly and helpfull. Room was clean and beautifully decorated.

FinlandWe wanted to have breakfast but changed our mind when we came to the restaurant: very poor choice of dishes, tolaly poor presentation, empty and comfortless restaurant room, no staff around. Though the hotel staff was highly helpful and understanding and served a nice coffee with pastry at our room.
It was an unforgetable experience to stay in the chateau. Nice atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Very helpful, friendly and highly professional staff in the hotel. We had several issues during our stay and always got help from the staff at the reception. Comfortable and beautiful room. Wonderful park. Great location. We will definitely return to Chateau Du Boisniard!

FranceWe were surprised about two things in our room ( Canne à sucre) - The bathroom was quite shocking compared to the room. We opened the door to a flashback to the 80's, pink bath, toilets and sink. There was a vague smell of drains mixed with air freshener. Not great really. Also the beautiful « toile de Jouy » wall paper has seen better days. The walls are three different Colors because it has faded so badly with the sun the black is light blue in some parts. This is a 5 star hotel let’s not forget. It needs a bit of TLC. The shower / Pediluve to get into the pool area is a bit random, it worked once every two or three people which provided great entertainment watching people get wet as they walked through in their clothes but is not great in reality for a 5 star.
This property is beautiful a real « Château » in the French countryside. The park is stunning and the pool is a plus. There are lots of sunbeds next to the pool it is great. Pool towels are provided. The room was nice, clean, spacious and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was great, a lot of choice of homemade food with options for people with food restrictions. Special mention to the staff, everybody was charming and helpful.

FranceThe rooms are expensive, so we feel that breakfast at €29 should have been included. Any extras were expensive and overpriced. We couldn't warrant using the Spa with the limited time given for each area.
Friendly staff, lovely building with nice rooms. A very welcome log fire. The restaurant was superb, an experience never to be forgotten. The staff couldn't be faulted, they were so knowledgeable on both the food and the wines. Excellent presentation and delicious flavours.
