Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe loved everything, and the chateau was perfect, but just to note you do need a car as there is no public transport to Aix-en-Provence (only a 5-10 minute drive), and many of the closer restaurants are closed some evenings, particularly Tuesdays. There are no self-catering options although plenty of grounds for picnicking.
We loved our stay in this beautiful chateau in the countryside of Provence. The chateau is a family home that is welcoming and luxurious, with beautiful rooms, and common areas with antiques and comfortable sitting areas. Clement was a very friendly and obliging host. The breakfast, served outside, was fresh with lovely croissants, fruit and cold spreads. The pool was very welcome in the heat. The King sized bed was firm and comfortable, and the bathroom large and luxurious. The aircon was not too noisy and very effective. Security is good. The location is excellent for Marseille Airport, and just outside of Aix en Pce. I can highly recommend.

FinlandWe didn't like the breakfast, it was rather basic, and items frequently ran out. The host replenished food as needed, but we would suggest adding at least some vegetables and boiled eggs for more variety. The host positions this property as a bed and breakfast, but considering the price, decor, and overall feel, it aligns more with a boutique hotel. As experienced travelers who've stayed in numerous hotels across many countries, we believe this property is beautifully designed with genuine care and attention. A higher-quality breakfast would significantly elevate the overall experience, which is something expected at this price point. Also, facial tissues were missing in the bathroom, it would be important to provide them.
We loved the Château! The size of the rooms was great, and we really enjoyed the pool and surrounding grounds. The spacious garden created such a peaceful atmosphere. The interior design was beautiful, and the host was very friendly. The L'Occitane toiletries provided in the bathroom were a delightful touch. Also, we absolutely adored the dog! Highly recommended.

AustriaAll was very fine
Clement and Sara made our 4-day stay a great time at Chateau de-Saint-Girons. Stylish rooms based on the historial environment and a spacious park with 300 year old plantan-trees, impressive ! This created a very nice atmosphere for privavy and silence. The chateau is indeed very charming. Excellent breakfast was available outdoors in a pleasant atmosphere. Great ideas for activities by Clement as the host (like the village of Cassis) helped to discover a natural treasure. Thank you very much for the great time, hopefully soon again

GermanyWe went with high expectations and they were entirely met. Warm welcome by owners, Clement and family, at their splendid chateau - B&B. All in perfect condition, and decorated with a lot of taste. Our room was wonderful with a most comfortable bathroom. Delicious breakfast, fulfilling our special wishes. We have great respect for the owners of this splendid mansion to maintain this large property in such a good shape in line with its great historic culture. Grateful that they take care in such a hospitable and friendly way of their guests.

AustraliaThere really was nothing not to love about this property. I generally prefer being able to walk to town which wasn’t possible, but it was only a very short drive to town.
Beautiful chateau set in a charming garden with attentive and friendly hosts. Cleanliness exceeded my expectations, and our host extremely helpful in providing recommendations for restaurants and activities.

United StatesIt was probably just the shock of all the peace and quiet. The traffic getting into Aix was a bit slow in the afternoons.
It is a beautiful, elegant mansion, wonderfully full of antiques. Our suite was fit for royalty. We have been spoiled, and will henceforth compare Chateau de Saint-Girons to wherever else we stay. It has a peaceful, parklike setting. Our host, Clement, was gracious in every respect. We liked Jack (Jacque?), his delightful canine greeter.

United StatesOur host was the pure definition of hospitable. He welcomed us into his home like valued family. He strove to meet our needs while being clear about his expectations for us as guests. This is a spectacular home with equally spectacular grounds. We enjoyed the grounds for evening picnics and playing cards and pétanque. Our mini-hosts, the children, were a bonus interaction and dog lovers will love the boxer! Breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend this chateau! For those traveling by car, this is an easily accessible location from which you can travel many directions for day trips.

United KingdomWe received a very warm welcome from Clement whose chateau we stayed in. We could not fault the efficiency of service and high level of comfort and cleanliness. The continental breakfast was excellent and beautifully served in the dining room overlooking the garden. Saint Girons is only a 17 minute car journey from Marseille airport so an ideal, great value for money for using as a base to explore south Provence.
