Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyI would improve the air conditioning system: it's very old and very loud, it was very difficult to sleep well. Moreover, I would improve the access to the pool especially if you have babies and strollers: there was no direct access to it.
Beautiful building, amazing surroundings gardens full of elements to discover. Great breakfast / brunch. Loved the wallpaper everywhere. Loved the room on 2 floors, very spacious and beautiful.

United KingdomEvening waiting service didn’t feel 5 star. Service could be improved, some tables very close together. Kitchen provided in apartment but very limited equipment eg no knives to cut up fruit.
Liked the maharaja apartment and wandering around the gardens.

United KingdomWe booked this hotel as a little honeymoon after our wedding in France and I told the hotel this multiple times yet on arrival there were no mention of this or any gesture during our stay which is poor for a 5* hotel and being such a special occasion for us.
Hotel was amazing and the room was out of this world. The best room we have ever stayed in!! Staff were amazing especially Alex who went above and beyond. The hotel grounds and pool were outstanding and we cannot wait to come back!

United StatesThey did not have air conditioning in the restaurant and entire first floor - and only marginal ac for some of the rooms, but understandably it was during an extreme hot spell out of their control. Dinner room was beyond hot n sweltering to enjoy- even at latest time possible - again weather is out of their control but ….
It is beautiful, the rooms are romantic and gorgeous welcoming staff, they went out of their way to accommodate what they could

United KingdomOur suite and pool area were first class. Albeit the side tables next to the sun lounges were never cleaned for the five nights we stayed, there were large drink spills on numerous tables left sticky and not once attended to. Also, there were no towels for beds, and you had to march back to reception to collect them, which seemed a bit silly. The Chateau is set in spacious grounds; however, all the grounds are poorly maintained. There are splendid gardens to the rear, which must have been stunning when first introduced, but now look like they haven't been attended to for years, which is a real shame. This is the same for the ‘chefs’ herb and vegetable garden, which is overgrown and scruffy (to be polite) and doesn't fit well with the narrative and photographs of the head chef and wife in the hotel literature. The grass areas to the front and rear of the property are cut by robots, which need reprogramming as vast areas are not trimmed and the edges of each lawn are riddled with weeds standing a foot high - nothing five minutes with a strimmer couldn't fix. Finally, the stupendous sculpture of a ‘hot-air balloon, which sits at the entrance, has deteriorated - its basket lies in tatters on the floor. My observations point to poor management of the facilities, which could easily be rectified by a manager with an eye for detail in a matter of weeks. A new hotel manager could turn the Chateau into a truly five-star experience in three months.
There has clearly been much investment in the property and facilities. We stayed in the ‘Dovecot,’ which was very special. The staff were very good, although breakfast was ‘hit and miss’ and it took ages to order coffee and boiled eggs. I think this was principally due to a lack of staff or poor management.

LithuaniaThe stay at the castle hotel left a great impression - an exclusive environment, attentive service and a peaceful atmosphere. The historical interior is subtly combined with modern amenities. Dinner in the restaurant rises to a gourmet level. We recommend it to those looking for quality and French exclusivity, a delicate dinner. The castle's breakfast menu will surprise even experienced guests! Premium level service! Everything has been thought of, from hygiene products to a gift for seeing off guests! We will be back!

Francetwo things were really poor: 1) the room next to us let their door slam so many times, our bed moved every time the door slammed. It was quite aggravating at the 15th or 20th time. 2) the dinner was not up to the standard as the rest of the chateau, it was really disappointing.
we loved the room (Mongolia, with love) the staff, the grounds, the entire chateau. breakfast both days were fantastic.

FranceNothing much ! It is not a problem at all but our room, Venice Carnaval is quite theatrical and dark. Being slightly older guests, we felt there could have been more lights in the room. This is all subjective as the next, possibly younger couple will find it perfect for them. There is a choice of rooms though and is really not a problem at all. It would have been very nice if I had a covered parking for my car !
There was nothing NOT to like.. breakfast is pretty standard fare, as can be expected but dinner was lovely with a lot of attention to detail; well prepared and carefully presented and served. As non-alcohol drinkers we had a lovely choice of juices, freshly made on the premises.

GermanyThe Château de Maubreuil is a truly amazing 5-star hotel located on a huge estate just outside of Nantes. The decoration of the entire hotel and your room will take you back in time. This theming around the former lord of the manor is done down to the smallest detail. The breakfast is rich and fresh, and the restaurant offers very tasty French cuisine for dinner. While we were unable to use the outdoor pool due to weather conditions, the hotel's spa in the basement is a very relaxing place. The gardens around the Caste are amazing and offer exciting opportunities for a walk.
