Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaYou roll in off the road—bugs on your visor, sweat in your shirt, and that faint whiff of engine heat that clings after a long day. Bastogne is behind you, Champagne is somewhere ahead, and this little stop in Alsace turns out to be the kind of surprise you wish happened more often. From the outside, it’s polished, curated—gardens manicured like they were lifted from a lifestyle magazine, a pool that almost dares you to shrug off your riding boots and dive in. Inside, it’s unapologetically upmarket, the kind of place that could have turned up its nose at two dusty motorcyclists. But here’s the thing: they didn’t. The welcome was genuine, warm, and precise in that very French way—professional without being pompous. The room? Crisp, cool, and whisper-quiet. Air conditioning so frosty you half expect to see your breath—perfect after riding through summer heat. Breakfast? Everything you want in France: great bread, proper coffee, things you don’t even think you want until you see them on the table. The restaurant, a multi-Michelin-star affair with Bocuse DNA running through its veins, was dark that night—this is rural France, after all, where even great kitchens take a night off. But they didn’t leave us stranded. Five minutes later, we were at their sister spot in town, eating a dinner that ticked every box: excellent food, friendly service, and a bill that didn’t make you wince. Hotels like this are rare: high-end but human, polished but still welcoming to travelers with road dust on their boots. If you’re anywhere between Bastogne and the Champagne region, detour here. It’s worth it.

United KingdomNothing, it was such a beautiful hotel.
Exceptional spa hotel, swimming pool and spa was to a very high Breakfast was also very good. Staff were very helpful, as they helped communicate with a local garage where our vehicle was being repaired. They even dropped me off to collect the vehicle, as 6 taxi firms could not take me there.

AustriaI am not sure where to start. The staff were very helpful and kind. The property is so beautiful, and we had a huge room with garden access, which was great for our dog. The restaurant is INCREDIBLE - I would suggest to book in advance. The place is very dog friendly, which was great for us. Location with lots of walking possibilities was fantastic. Their restaurant in town is also very good.

LuxembourgThe trip was not planned well in advance, so we didn’t book any restaurant in the town, and even though the lovely receptionist recommended us a place for dinner, we were not advised to call and book or check the availability, as it was Saturday evening. Our lack of planning indeed, but an advice on checking the availability before driving there would be great
The Auberge has a very nice ambiance, quiet and cozy, with helpful staff. We had a chance to have the spa area only for ourselves, it was truly great! Just perfect for a mid-autumn getaway. The homemade breakfast was also tasty, exactly what was needed. There’s also a beautiful friendly kitten on the property :)

SwitzerlandGiven the high level of the hotel and the restaurant I would expect staff be more caring. During the dinner I asked for English menu translation, waiter said someone will come and nothing happened...then they brought dessert menu and nobody came back to take the order...such mistakes should not happen in Michelin star restaurant..
Wonderful hotel beautifully furnished with local porcelaine, very stylish. Very nice garden and wonderful spa. With low number of rooms we had always privacy around pool or in spa. Excellent food in the restaurant.

BelgiumBecause 2 of jan the restaurant was closed we were advised to visit Bistro de Casino, 5 minutes by car. In the dark not easy to drive, but on the parking in front of the casino building what way to go ? Finally the someone came to show us the way along three times deep down stares in the dark ! You better never advise this place in winter and rain. We found it very dangerous. The staf did not tell us te have a front door key coming back, so we had to nock on a window. Furthermore, lovely hotel. Maarten Duwaer

NetherlandsEverything! Beautiful old building tastefully renovated and filled with Alsatian brocante/antiques; beautiful, spacious, super clean rooms with truly excellent beds; super nice and helpful staff with highest level of professionalism; superb dining in their Michelin star restaurant (highly recommended!); equally fantastic breakfast with gorgeous pastry and home-made jams. Very nice terrace overlooking the large garden with old trees. Possibly one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in!

GermanyOne minor suggestion would be to have a different light setup in the hotel room - the light in the hallway is motion-controlled and gets on at night when using the bathroom, this isn't quite optimal.
Auberge Saint Walfrid is a lovely family-owned hotel with a one star fine dining restaurant. The historic building dates from the 18th century, however the rooms have been renovated to the highest standards. There is also a newer attachment to the original building from 2019, however our room was in the older part. Our room in the 2nd floor was spacious and had a bathroom with bathtub while the toilet was separate. Shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and conditioner were provided, as were bathrobes. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was amazing, and service impeccable. We had five courses each which we selected from the a la carte menu, but could as well have gone for one of the two set menus. The style of the restaurant is traditional and features local produce. The selection of cheese to choose from was impressive! Most of the staff are bilingual German and French, as is the menu. The wine list is extensive and also contains local wines from the Alsace-Lorraine region. Overall a great experience.

United KingdomOnly a minor thing but our newly refurbished room had bright automatic lighting which came on if movement detected. Not ideal if getting up at night to use the bathroom ! Could probably have been deactivated when we checked in if we had realised.
We have stayed here several times over recent years when touring Europe. The auberge is quietly located and exceptionally well appointed in all areas. It offers a superb dining experience and breakfast is also excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive.
