Parts of the room seemed worn and outdated but it was still comfortable so nothing too terrible.

The room layout was very good for our familiar as it gave our teenage son a bit of privacy. Everything was clean and the choice at breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was overpriced, and dinner likewise. The bath/ shower was uncomfortable and very odd.

The toilet in our room was absolutely tiny. It was quite a difficult contortion to reach down to pull your trousers up!

    Facilities were generally satisfactory.

A nice hostel with a great restaurant quite close to many interesting D-Day places and beaches

    • Stayed 3 nights

The room was a bit too small from our perspective and what we missed was an air conditioner. As we visited in July our room was really warm - even during night time so that it was hard to get some sleep, although the beds were fine. I guess that in the future even the hotels and hostels in the north of France will need to rethink air conditioning during the summer months. As we checked out we also had three times breakfast on the bill although we had none - so we would recommend to check the final invoice when checking out.

The hostel in Carentan is quite close (up to 50 km) to many of the relevant D-Day sights (Sainte-Mère-Église, Utah-Beach and also Arromanches-les-Bain, Omaha-Beach, Bayeux etc.). This was one of the main reasons for us to book here. Furthermore we loved the restaurant in the patio where we had lunch two times during our stay . This is highly recommendable. Furthermore the hostel has a free parking lot across the street.

The room was on a split level with the bathroom and toilet up a very steep staircase. Some would find this difficult.

The staff were pleasant and helpful and the evening meal was good value.

The shower door didnt function as the fixings and wheels were corroded and i had to re-line them. Quite a few ants were in the room.

Nice location, pleasant Court yard, friendly and helpfull staff who were happy to store my bike in a side room.

Hotel restaurant on the edge of the town, a short walk to the quay. We had room 1, which had disabled access directly onto the courtyard amongst the diners. We had booked very late, and for the price it was perfectly acceptable, other than the wifi didn’t reach. Breakfast was good and we elected to eat dinners on the quay but the restaurant did look tempting.

The food was very disappointing, I may have been unlucky, but the cod was overcooked, dry, and served on a stone cold plate! This is getting to be the normal in France and it's very annoying. Luckily, we have had great food elsewhere and served on hot plates. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

    The dining room was beautiful

I paid before my arrival, but I did not get what I paid for. - I did not get the accommodation which is advertised in the pictures on booking.com. My rooms were much worse. - There is no private parking as advertised on booking.com. When I arrived, I asked personnel for a parking place at their private parking, but they told me to park at a railway station since they did not have a private parking! So, I had to park my car overnight at a public railway station parking spot. The rooms was terrible. The first thing you see when opening the entrance door is a bathtub ... The bathtub is not in a separate room but in fact directly in the bedroom. There is only a small (I guess 160 cm high) wall between bed and the bathtub. If a person is having a shower, he/she has no privacy, and it is even very difficult to hide since there are fully transparent windows (no frosted glass etc.) from the access terrace. We found it very difficult to fully cover the windows with the curtains. After my arrival, having no private parking and seeing the bad accommodation, I wanted to cancel my booking, but the hotel personnel refused it since it was booked through booking.com. I asked for better rooms (as showed on booking.com pictures), but the staff refused as well. I understood that I was in a bad situation - I was kept with no possibility to get my money back, then I requested free breakfast for me and my family, and they finally (reluctantly) agreed…

    Nothing.

The only issue the group encountered was the drains in the shower/bath were very slow.

The room and hotel in general was very nice. The room was comfy and the attached restaurant was popular with the locals which is always a good sign. As for location, it is perfect for anyone wanting to visit D-Day sites. It's very close to St. Mere Eglise and Utah beach and about a half hour drive to Omaha beach, not to mention Carentan itself.
