Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNothing. Note if you get there a bit earlier there is a number on door to call as 4.30pm is way too late check in for weary travellers. Note also you are above a restaurant so expect noise in evening, didn’t worry us.
Location excellent if you don’t mind carrying bags into castle etc.

FranceDo not be fooled by the door with Auberge des Lices written all over it, that is not the entrance. Go to the door to the left which seems like the restaurant entrance. Here you will find a notice with early arrival instructions

United KingdomNothing, please remember they don’t advertise it as a hotel as it’s above a restaurant. We were there over Friday and Saturday and was a bit noisy but it didn’t bother us.
It was in the old city walls the rooms were massive, and the building was medieval.

United StatesNo stand up shower. Hot Water is limited, but enough for a quick shower/bath. Only real issue was getting luggage up the 12 minute cobblestone uphill walk after parking outside the walls.
It’s inside the city walls. Location was fantastic. Especially in the evening and morning before the crowds came. Friendly staff, too.

United KingdomNo English TV channels. Lack of a proper shower. Poor lighting on stairs with no handrail. Would not be suitable for an elderly person.
This was an excellent choice as a stop over before my early flight the following day. Enjoyed the meal in the restaurant. Very peaceful location.

French PolynesiaUnfortunately there is a loud bar about half a block away. We expected some murmurs from the restaurant below us but we had no idea that we would hear popular music into the night. We were looking forward to a tranquil setting in the middle of a medieval fortress. People should also take into account about $30 a day to park their car just outside the city walls.
We loved being inside the fortress walls. The room was beautiful and the staff was very helpful. We enjoyed dining at the restaurant. We were amazed at the view and the size of the bathtub.

AustraliaThere was nothing that I didn't like. Well, okay maybe not the flight of stairs to our room... but hey, it's an old building and it is authentic.
Location was excellent. The staff were attentive and friendly. They run both the accommodation and the first-class restaurant, so they are busy, for them to accommodate our questions and desire for good coffee at all hours was a bonus. We ate at the restaurant twice on our stay and the meals were superb. being summer we were seated in the shaded leafy courtyard, the dining room looked welcoming for winter visitors. Our room was a lovely surprise too, for the price we were rewarded with greater comfort than expected and an excellent view of the old basilica. On our departure we gave a box of chocolates to the young staff who cared for us and were met with tears and hugs, they were beautiful young women.

SpainI wrote the previous morning (over 24 hours before our stay) asking for help with leaving luggage at the property but received no reply so we had to carry our rucksacks around all day as check isn’t until 6.30pm which is very late (my mum is in her 70s so carrying her luggage all day because the apartment couldn’t find time to reply was not great). It was made very clear when we arrived that it is Restaurant with 2 rooms, not a hotel which didn’t seem very welcoming and check in was very rushed. While the room was everything we wanted at a good price for the location, the owner seems to forget that, just like his customers in the restaurant, we are also paying and he should have taken the time to communicate with us as well.
The room was exactly as shown in the photos and had space for 4 people. If friends are travelling together, there is the possibility of sleeping in separate areas which allows some privacy. Tea and coffee making facilities are available and the room is very large and spacious. The bathroom and bath are both huge. There are lovely views of the city walls and the location is excellent - inside the medieval city walls. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Once you are aware of the negatives below, I would recommend staying here for the views and the location.
