Our room and bathroom were large. The accommodation was good value. The restaurant was closed on the Monday we arrived but we were recommended 3 alternatives and the nearby China Wok Buffet was exceptional value. Would definitely return if only to enjoy the nearby canal walks. Very good breakfast with delicious breads and home made jam.

This is our third annual visit. We feel so welcome. The food is lovely and the village is amazing. We use this as our first stop after the Eurotunnel from UK on our European motorbike trips. The owner is brilliant: a great sense of humour and he cares. A lot.

The location was perfect. Close to large town but a village setting, a few yards from canal walk and river. Plenty of parking. Host was truly amazing. A really lovely person whom obviously enjoyed greeting and looking after his guests. Food was excellent. Didn’t want to give a good review as we wanted to keep this little gem of a Hostellerie our little secret.

Great location just off the cycleway. Rather than head uphill to Chaumont we chose to eat at the restaurant in the evening and we were not disappointed- food delicious. Excellent breakfast including home made jams.

This little hotel is in an excellent location in a little village that is close enough to Chaumont for it to be very convenient to access main roads, but far enough from central Chaumont for it to be quiet and peaceful. A pretty river and canal walk is just a couple of minutes from the hotel, and is well worth a walk. Their own restaurant is excellent and does not disappoint, and the owner is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are modest and simple, clean and functional; for the very good value room rates, they are just right. This was our 2nd visit, and we’ll definitely return - for us it makes a perfect 1st day stopover en-route from a UK channel crossing down to the south of France, without resorting to the alternative of a dull formula style hotel.

There was nothing not to like.

We particularly enjoyed staying in a peaceful village on the edge of town with good walks and in an independent establishment with its own unique atmosphere. This was personified by the owner who was exceptionally welcoming, personable and attentive throughout as befits someone with a lifetime in hotel management and direction. He offers excellent meals and value for money. Accommodation was basic, but comfortable and warm. The owner has plans and we look forward to another stay.

Couldn’t fault anything.

Our first visit which was a big surprise due to the quiet village location, excellent staff and the owner very customer friendly and helpful. Our evening meal was top quality, excellent and attentive waiter, also a good wine list. Not forgetting to say a big thank you to the chef! The breakfast was also top notch, good choice on offer, along with the homemade jams! The rooms had everything you needed, were very clean and comfortable. Would we go back, a big yes!

The owner explained that he had bought the property a year ago. I would say that my room needed updating which I am sure he will accomplish very soon.

Lovely location in a quiet village. The owner made us very welcome and was extremely helpful when one of our motorcycles developed a fault, even telephoning the dealership on our behalf to arrange a repair. Thank you, you are a gentleman.

+ Frederic was an excellent, attentive and convivial host + Food was simple but good + Breakfast was good + Parking in the village square was good and convenient - No good quality wine by the glass - Shutters on the bedroom windows were solid, so there was no way of allowing air in at night whilst maintaining privacy - Huge sliding door to bathroom: difficult to close from the inside and too noisy for discreet use during the night - Bathroom was large and well appointed apart from a need for grab rails for entering/exiting the bath shower. Toilet seat was plastic and broken. - Bed was exceedingly low
