How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFantastic location close to the cité. Nearby épicerie which did coffee and croissants as well as fruit and other bits. We appreciated being able to drop our bags ahead of the check in time and collection of the key was really easy. I got fast responses to any questions too.
It feels as though they are cutting corners. There was only one toilet roll for 3 nights with two people- we ran out. The hairdryer cuts out after a few minutes. The pillows need washing. It would be nice to routinely provide soap in the bathroom. This is such a great location and a lovely flat, it just felt as though a few details let it down unnecessarily.

Verified reviewThe apartment was simply outstanding. Spaceful bathroom with two sinks walk-in shower gave us the opportunity to get ready much faster each morning. On this note, it was also handy to find restroom (toilet) completely separated. The kitchen was fully equipped, and although we did not cook on our holiday, we found all the dishes and gadgets for our homemade breakfast. The living room was spaceful and comfortable, and the same both bedrooms. What I would like to highlight the most was excellent communication with the owner via booking and perfect description where to find code, keys, parking, etc. Immediate response and answers to all questions. All perfect.
Just two details: The AC was handy in hot summer, but my technical skills were on the level I needed to make it working. Maybe some simple guide could help. I obviously could ask, but it was not ideal in the late evening. The other comment is about the position of wondow in one of the bedrooms. The small street was surprisingly noisy overnight and also early morning, which prevented us from the plan to sleep with an open window. Again, it is nothing really important.

Verified reviewThe apartment was perfectly located to the old and new towns, restaurants and even a small épicerie across the road that stocked everything needed and made coffee. The rooms were spacious and were equipped with pretty much everything you could need. Free WIFI and even better free parking was a definite bonus. Wonderful spacious shower and bathroom with great water pressure.
The only criticisms would be that the apartment is on the second floor and the staircase has a lot of broken /loose tiles which make it slightly precarious carrying bags up, also regrettably the local rubbish collection point (6 very large bins) are just outside the apartment block and were full to overflowing, added to the 39 degree heat whilst we were there created an eyesore and smell, its a shame these aren't emptied before the weekend. These did not however detract from the wonderful interior of the apartment

Verified reviewNice freshly renovated appartment just a few minutes from the cité (the old castle/town). Coffee and croissants at the doorsteps (an epicérie and a tabac just a few metres away). Free parking organised close by. Staff very helpful.

Verified reviewThe apartment is located on the top floor of the building. We visited Carcassonne at the end of July, when it was really hot. So, although it was on the top floor, there were a lot of windows and cross ventilation. It was a good mix of the classic architecture and modern design. The location of the building is centrally located, just a few steps away from the l'Aube entrance of the Cite. The restaurants are about 3 minutes walk. The check-in was easy. The staff was easily accessible and responsive, even though we didn't meet them in person. We definitely would rent this again if we were in Carcassonne again.
The floor could use a little bit of mopping, since we're a family that is shoes-off inside a home. Other than that, nothing.

Verified reviewWE couldn't get out of the car park on Sunday morning. The parking key card wouldn't work so we had to mount the curb at the side of the barrier.

Verified reviewThe location near the castle.
The Booking.com posting said free parking, but it didn't work and when asked for a refund I never received a response (I was ignored after multiple attempts.). No aircon, open window's equals mosquitos at night in the bedrooms. We did the garbage, dishes and stripped the beds.

Verified reviewCute wee spot with nice decor, right below the medieval village and if you poked your head out the window you could see it! A unique house in a great location.
Beds weren't very comfy or the pillows, very low to the ground. Better beds would make a huge difference! Just minor things - depends how picky you are. But some basics that should be considered were not up to standard e.g hand soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty, no body wash in the shower, towels were thin and small, stains on the couch, a washing machine but no powder and only a half used roll of toilet paper and one extra. A few tweaks and it would be a 10/10!
Thank you for visiting us. We Will be better 😀

Verified reviewThe location was good and the style of the apartment suited the location.
The description of the parking wasn’t correct. Specific questions weren’t answered. Two chairs were broken, kitchen utensils very poor.
