How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Alienor is a hidden gem in a lovely part of town (La Bastide). The studio apartment is full of antique bric-a-brac and comfy furnishings, really tastefully done. Superb hot shower. Interesting selection of books. Was greeted by a friendly owner and her beautiful dog. Great value, recommended.

No kitchen, a microwave and a water cooker are stored in a closet. No AC, might be a problem in summer.
Large room, comfortable bed, quiet, yet central location, near some mayer bus and tram stops, friendly owner.

I loved the king size bed the mattress was so comfortable. It was quiet and very close the tram. You can walk to the city in 10 to 15 minutes. It was very clean and the owner was so very kind. A little gem in Bordeaux.

Convenient location, though I was glad to be told to turn right over the bridge not left or forward as a solo female traveller. The accomodation was so comfortable and perfect for my needs. The host is very concerned for your comfort. Late check out is a bonus.

Apartment is in a very quiet neighborhood but very close to the tram station and lovely walk across the bridge especially in the evening. It is easy to arrive from the train station on the trams. There’s 1 change but all trams are at the same station. Bed is big and very comfortable. Host is nice and caring.

Good location, quiet area across the river, and close to tram A Stalingrad. Lovely, large and comfortable room facing a very quiet courtyard. Kind and helpful landlady.

I feel like a guardian angel sent me this room, it was the perfect place to stay, the wifi was quick enough for me to take work calls, the room is beautiful, the location is perfect and I love how it is only a short walk to the river . AND Dominique is so lovely. I would definitely stay again !

Great hoast, beautiful area, not too far from the city center but still in a quiet area. Only minor thing worth mentioning is, that the host only speaks french.

Domenique is very friendly. She really cares about her guests. The room was very close to the center but in a calmer area. The room was clean and had a little fridge and boiler. I recommend staying there.

There was one mosquito that buzzed me but didn't bite.
From the beginning and throughout my two-night stay I felt welcome and at home. The proprietor smiled and suffered bravely through my limited language skills. The kitchen area and bathroom were very clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. It was located well so I was able to get where I wanted to go easily. The Aliénor was one of the best parts of Bordeaux for me.

I did not meet the cats downstairs.
Pictures don't do it justice. it's a clean comfortable room, excellent bed. Stupendously great value for money. And it's quiet. The centre of Bordeaux can get very noisy. Just what you need after a long day drinking & walking. Peace and quiet with a lovely bed.

Nothing! Everything was great.
Bed was so so comfortable, love that the curtains blackout completely and everything was amazing value for your money. The room had everything you could need! Electric kettle, tea bags, wine key, utensils, etc. Dominique was the sweetest and very easy to contact as she lives on the bottom floor and is only one door knock away. She doesn’t speak English but that’s no problem.

Owner was responsive and friendly, she doesn’t speak English but we got by just fine with google translate. The location is superb, next to a tram stop that is close to the main tourist area but you still get a quiet neighbourhood.

All good. Nice room, facilities good, the location is a (very nice) short walk or tram ride from the old town. The bed was big and very comfy. Proprietor does not speak much English and I do not speak much French, but there was nothing to be explained that I couldn't figure out (so it's just something to be aware of).

I didn't like the fact that I didn't book to stay even longer, it was such a nice place... my fault!
Great location, just around the corner from the tram station Stalingrad. Enjoyed meeting Dominique - super nice hostess...
