Our room was tiny, which was not clear in the booking. It implied we would have a chalet type room

Although it was full of character it would benefit from some basic maintenance around the property. We stayed in Les Barrats, the shower door was broken. Railings on the stairs to the chalet need fixing. Having a hot tub for each chalet is a lovely idea but if it’s not hot when you arrive, unless you’re planning on staying up all night to heat it it’s pretty impractical. An extra 20 euro fee for the hot tub. 20 euros is a lot for a very basic limited breakfast…..no muesli to go with a yoghurt…. The gardener was weed whacking for about two hours during an otherwise peaceful evening. This perhaps could be done during the day when guests are out…..

Very (!) characterful ‘quirky’ hotel in a haven of peace out of the bustle of Chamonix.

Loved how quaint and in the olde style, and out of town a little bit. Loved having a private hot tub!

more on the go food - as the location is further out from the main city/any shops it would be good to have a ‘nibbles’ menu offering chips/pizzas and just some easy on the go food. However appreciate that may not be possible

The staff/and or owners were SO lovely and accommodating.

Unusual set up, very embedded in nature. Bare looking like chalets which have nonetheless all the comforts, including personal jacuzzis. Just inside the woods, I also saw two deers in front of my door at night!

A small thing but the hottub outside the apartment below us came on frequently during the night.. on a cleaning cycle presumably... we had the windows open to enjoy the mountain air and forest sounds and the noise did disturb us, maybe the cycle could be turned off until the daytime? We loved the place despite this however....

Amazing place, traditional style, quirky hamlet of beautiful alpine buildings... super cute room with everything you could need, small but so cosy. Made you feel like Heidi with traditional mountain style, thick duvet and beautiful views. Absolutely loved having a little sauna next to the room and our own small, cute hottub. We were lucky to get a last minute, great deal on the room price but we live in the area and now we know of it we will definitely go again. The restaurant was closed the night we were there but would love to try it.

Everything is rustic and beautiful at Chalets de Philippe! We went there as a family and it was a lovely weekend away from the crowds of Chamonix, but close enough to have the amazing view of it (it's a 10 min drive). The room we stayed was cosy and nice, and with amazing views. The access was via the restaurant which to me, it felt lovely because we had access to the nice living room of the place as well. The jacuzzi was on, very nice as well! Breakfast fresh and nice! I would 100% go back! The gentleman at the reception was always accommodating and with a smile!

Is not very functional sometimes, and the bed is a bit short (I was warned about this and wasn’t a problem). Also you need a car to get to the property (also, not a problem for me).

Is a very original place, with some unique rooms and furniture: check the photos! The owner is very nice 😊 Location wise is a close drive of Chamonix center.

Fairy tale accommodation with wonderful views to Mont Blanc
    • Leisure trip

    • Stayed 1 night

The rooms are quite small but this adds to the coziness of the place.

It is a fairy tale accommodation (including a prince-like host). Seriously, this is one of the most beautiful, romantic, cozy and picturesque accommodation in the French Alps. The view to the Mont Blanc from the atmospheric wooden rooms are marvelous. We arrived late and Philippe welcomed us so warmly, treated us to French cheese and a glass of red wine. The breakfast the next morning was quite luxurious - in particular with the wonderful views on Mont Blanc...

The hot tub was cold on arrival and we couldn’t get it to heat up in time to use it. Also, my friend was charged an additional €100 to sleep on the sofa bed. Also there was no fire tools to create a fire.

The views were stunning and the property was beautiful

When we arrived at the reception, the gentleman there sent us with a young lady to check us in. Instead of the spacious two-story cabin with a fireplace that we had booked, she showed us to a very small and disappointing cabin. My husband is 2 meters tall, and his legs were hanging off the bed by about 20 centimeters. The place was nothing like the property we had reserved. When I went back to the reception to raise this issue, the gentleman was extremely rude and dismissive. He told me that another couple wanted to extend their stay in the cabin we had booked (1st picture) , and since they paid for it, the management gave them our property and placed us in this smaller one instead. He insisted it was “the same price,” as if that justified the downgrade. This is completely unacceptable, as customers should receive exactly what they have booked. On top of this, the cabin we were given was dirty, full of cobwebs and dust, and very uncomfortable. It felt neglected and not properly cleaned. For the price we paid, this was a huge disappointment. I am extremely dissatisfied with my stay and would never recommend this property to anyone. Chamonix has plenty of other hotels and chalets that, for the same price, offer far better service, cleanliness, comfort, and even spa facilities. This place is severely overpriced for what it provides, and people should not be misled into booking it.

    I liked the location

The room was not. The bathroom was not attached, the entry was only a curtain and not a door, we were in the back of the restaurant and had to walk through the kitchen to get to our room. The jacuzzi was on the terrace in the middle of the restaurant. The staff was very rude about it when we explained the discrepancy to the booking description and insisted that “private” meant nobody else could use it not that nobody else could see it. We asked for a different room that was more like the photos, they said it was not possible even though we paid full price for a “real room”. The owner asked us to remove our bad review we asked for a price adjustment from booking and they said no. They also would not let us sit for dinner because the restaurant was fully booked, so we had to walk past the diners to get into our room but could not join. Really disappointed and ruined our vacation. What made it worse is the staff kept harassing us the whole time to take down our review. Such bad service.

We were very excited to book here for our wedding anniversary. The room we booked was a king delux with private jacuzzi. The pictures were beautiful.
