Unfortunately it was very hot when we visited. With no air conditioning and an inadequate fan it was an uncomfortable evening. If not for that, we would have enjoyed the hotel much more.

Lovely room on 3rd floor. Basic but superclean. Wardrobe. Mirror in room. Ensuite bathroom. Shower, toilet. Clean. Soap/shampoo, hairdryer. Towels. Extra bed cover. Pillow Bedlinen, crisp and clean. Bedside table with nice comfortable chair. Extra sofabed(did not need it though). Coffee and tea making facilities area on 3rd floor. Coffee, teabags. Sugar. Milk. Cutlery provided. Good kettle to boil water. Fridge for guests to store their drinks etc. Breakfast included. Basic but good. Warm buffet (mini sausages, scrambled eggs and superb little meatballs) cheese, ham, turkey. Bread, cereals, berries for yoghurt. Chilled fruit drink. Coffee and tea. (Hot water in thermos) my husband is English and prefers tea hot. Timo ( hotel staff) made him an excellent hot cup of tea!! Thank you very much. Real cutlery and real teaspoons (I do dislike those wooden sticks) Disabled access, on site free parking for hotel guests. Free WiFi. Not used but I know it is there. Shops close by less than 5 minutes. Good pizzeria, check out. You will not be disappointed Close to Kuopio town centre and the famous Kuopio tower. For parents single beds.

Kids had 2 layer beds like in ship, they loved them. For parents single beds. Free parking, very clear instructions how to get keys and find a room. Close market, pizzeria. Close to Puijo tower and skiiing area. Breakfast was small but elvery enought to have meal.

The lift door was left open one or two times on other floor so couldn't get the lift to our floor without going to another floor to close the door. This should be fixed because with baby pushchair or wheelchair you cannot use the stairs.

A good hotel with everything needed. Quiet and comfortable room. The nearby mall wonderful and offered everything needed. The location near Kuopio centre and Puijonlaakso a classic suburb with its own beauty.

Good value for money, not a fancy place, really simple and have a 90-th vibe. But everything was clean, room was spacious, great location if you have to be nearby univercity hospital. Shower in toilet in the room, extra pillows and blankets available if needed. Really quiet too. Breakfast included.

The place is rather remote otherwise, so if you're not prepared to walk to the city, choose a more central location. Also, it is on a rather steep uphill from all directions.

The place is great if you need to stay next to the university or hospital. The place is rather calm, basic facilities available, the grocery shops are just a minute away.

Every day there were the same things for breakfast.

The biggest advantage was the sauna in the room and the large size of the room. Despite the negative temperatures outside, the room was very warm.

Good hotel, with its age becoming noticeable. Located 20-25 minutes from the city centre on foot, and conveniently served by buses that stop very close by. Breakfast includes eggs, sausages, bacon, cheese, some vegetables, coffee and juices, karelian pies (recommended), fruit, some sweets, etc. The reception is closed in the evening and until the morning. It has a strange charm (it looks like a Kaurismaki film set). The temperature in the room may be a bit low for those coming from warm climates, and during autumn, but this is common in Finland.

Not really modern or fancy but it works just fine for one night. The breakfast is ok, but the choice is rather limited.

Good location within 100 m from a supermarket, a pizzeria and a pub. A bit old, but still quite clean room.

The lift (1975 vintage I think) really does need refurbishing as it was the only really scruffy thing we noticed in the hotel.

After reading some of the reviews, our expectations were not high, but we found the hotel to be very much better than we had expected. It is located a little away from the centre in a quiet and largely residential neighbourhood. The hotel appears to have been built in the 1970s, when Finland was approaching the peak of its prosperity, and if you can look past the now somewhat worn furnishings in the restaurant and public areas, you will get a good idea of what a smart modern hotel looked like then. It seems to accommodate some relatively long-term guests and had a pleasant, unfussy atmosphere. Our room had evidently been refurbished and was clean and comfortable. By Finnish standards this hotel offers very good value for money and we'd be happy to stay there again.

Since there isn’t a reception desk, it’s a bit of a hassle to check in. You have to make arrangement at what time you’re arriving. But once you get the key card, there is no problem with coming and going.

The hotel was quiet and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fine, too.

The bathroom was not as clean as normally expected. ( stayed at the Savonia before) Shower head was covered in limescale this should not happen. This might have been an oversight by house hold. No plug and the washbasin had a big crack in it. In our opinion the room should not have been given out until the bathroom is repaired. The complementary hairdryer was broken (which we reported to reception as well as the damaged wash basin.) There are no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms but on the plus side there is a communal area where you can boil water to maje a hot srink. . Tea, coffee, sugar milk all provided plus a fridge to store cold drinks etc.

The room was nice, quiet, comfortable beds, clean linnen. Breakfast included basic but good food. Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, coffee, etc A toaster would have been nice .... We enjoyed staying at the Savonia but unfortunately there were a few things which I have stated in section I didn't like

Big room with a separate ’living room’. Perfectly clean and modern. Good price. The 20-minute walk to the centre did not harm thanks to excellent walking paths.

The elevator was a bit scary, not slowing for breaking and not stopping correctly for the floors. I would like a fridge in the room.
