The welcome was warm and the property is very attractive and well maintained. Our room was spacious, beautifully furnished and had every amenity. We enjoyed a truly excellent dinner.

Maybe just that for a 4 star hotel, one might expect things to be better maintained. There were aome loose tiles outside. And the aircon in our room did not work properly. None of this impacted our experience though, we had a great time

We stayed 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a laid back place, with a quiet nature feel even though it is close to main roads. There is a truck stop and toll gate close by but you hardly notice once you get to the hotel. Quick access to San Sebastián, Hondarribia and airport. The entrance road looked a little challenging but was quite fine really. We loved breakfast, with fresh fruit and eggs made to order. The restaurant is great in its own right, we had a lovely meal there. But most of all, the staff at Usategieta is wonderful. We were told in advance that there would be a wedding at the hotel on the day of our arrival and that the restaurant would be closed. But we were made comfortable with an outdoor place to sit, and a cold plate and drinks. There was some music to be heard from the wedding but not disruptive and it stopped at midnight as indicated. Overall the staff are friendly and helpful.

The Weather.

We chose the Hotel for it's location- not far from the motorway and on the border between France and Spain. It was purely a stopover. the room was a good size, as was the bathroom. the surroundings looked pretty but it was raining hard when we got there so had little chance to explore. The meal in the restaurant was excellent, restricted to being served betwwen 7.30 -9.30pm - which suited us fine. Breakfast had a good choice and there was also a hot menu if desired. Weddings take place here so something to bear in mind when booking.

No kettle to boil water for tea! Apparently idiots cook their pot noodles in them so now not available. Very windy and our door to balcony needs some attention as it blew open.

Great location near motorways and San Sebastian but feels like you are staying in the countryside. Nice friendly staff, good sized room and warm. It was cold weather but the large terraces look good for better weather. Plentiful parking. Excellent evening meal, a bit pricey but really enjoyed it. Good breakfast. Will look for an excuse to visit again!

Having to go home!

The staff went above and beyond. They couldn’t be more helpfully, polite and friendly. The room was excellent, comfortable with everything you need. The evening meal was top notch. We couldn’t recommend high enough we will be returning.

Unfortunately during our stay the team was simply understaffed, leading to longish wait times. Not something that would stop me from going back, but I really hope management finds some more staff. One person doing both reception and breakfast is intense.

The evening staff was more business like... Not rude at all, but not smiling. We had an issue with the settings on the A/C and it was quickly resolved. However, the person helping us sort this out, made us feel as if we were somehow too ignorant to sort it out ourselves.

The morning staff was wonderful.. Our breakfast time always started with a beautiful smile from Aranxa (I hope am spelling her name correctly!). The views of the mountains were breath taking. On the day we arrived, we had lunch at their restaurant and it was amazing dishes... The attention to detail was evident everywhere!!

Disappointed the restaurant was not open having read reviews the food was excellent. We had to go out to eat which wasn’t ideal after a long journey from southern Spain.

Room was a little hot and although one coffee pod per person is provided, a kettle with the option of tea would be nice. The “terrace” where you can choose to eat a simple, less costly meal than the restaurant needs a little TLC and thought. A marquee so quite open to the elements, makes it feel cold and because it’s separate from the hotel, leaves you feeling like you’re an inconvenience and rather abandoned.

Very large room, comfy beds, very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely views. We found the property with no problems at all and the road leading up to it wasn’t too bad either.

Charming, rustic property in the hills, about 20 minutes drive from San Sebastian. The road to the hotel is a bit difficult to identify and easy to miss but believe google maps and you'll get there! Food was excellent with large servings, so beware. Staff are multilingual (not all). We had the only bedroom with a balcony but it was well worth the extra. Go and stay there and enjoy the ambience.
