How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClean and tidy rooms with great beds. Lovely family who are great hosts
Nothing If you want a hotel with trouser press, hair dryer and top end shower it might not be for you. But for us it was great and the reviews reflect this. I would happily stay a week here, unfortunately we only had a few days. Good little breakfast menu, you only pay for what you have …. It could be just toast and coffee or something a little more substantial 🎉

Verified reviewThis small family-run hotel was a great find! The owners were lovely, the room was great, and we had a simple breakfast outside on the terrace (less simple options were also available). We'll certainly be back! The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Potes, and there are local restaurants and a small supermarket close to the hotel.
Not much, to be honest! It was a little bit tricky to find the hotel initially, but I think that was the fault of my GPS! There's not a great deal of hotel parking but we were always able to find a space close to the hotel.

Verified reviewThe staff are very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are spotless and well-kept, although the décor is a bit dated. The hotel has a cozy café where you can enjoy breakfast. Being located on the main road means that the view from the window overlooks the street, but the advantage is its great convenience — with a supermarket, laundry, and pharmacy just steps away, and Potes only a short drive.
Parking was along the street rather than inside a private area. While the hotel had a few reserved spots, they weren’t always sufficient to park right in front. The bathroom on the ground floor had a window facing the neighboring hotel, making it feel less private. Also, there was no access to the garden, even though it was mentioned in the description.

Verified reviewthe location is ideal for discovering los Picos de Europa. Walking distance from Potes, a charming village where you can find very good restaurants . Room were very silent and clean, bed comfy. The real extraordinary point was the staff: the hostal is managed by a family. They are extremely nice and proactive. They helped us to navigate around the issue of the wildfires. we do recommend the Hotel Toscana

Verified reviewWonderful staff and owners. Very kind, with great suggestions for things to do. Hotel was spotlessly clean and well located, easy walk down into Potes. Room was very modern - honestly didn’t expect it to be so nice for the price we paid. Great value would stay again.
The reviews said parking was limited but we had no problems parking.

Verified reviewAmazing family run hotel, they were very welcoming and caring. You can see they love what they do!! The room was just perfect and modern with a beautiful balcony and a comfy bed. They accompanied us to the room and were very happy to show it to us. Potes is just a small walk away from the hotel or even quicker if you take a car or motorcycle We arrive very tired after a long motorcycle trip and they were kind enough to arrange something for us to eat. The owner cooked herself for us and it was absolutely delicious. We carry medicine with us that needs to stay in the cool and they promptly arrange to keep it in the fridge. I left with the room key by mistake and when I came back I was welcomed with a hug! We felt like family and will definitely return Thank you for everything, our stay was perfect

Room a bit dated, particularly the bathroom, which needs a bit of an upgrade.

Verified reviewGood location , attractive building, parking outside . Very clean . Bedrooms away from road are quiet with a nice Mountain View . There is a small supermarket opposite and the main town is a 10-15 walk, worth a visit , with many restaurants .
Bathrooms were in need of modernization , but they were very clean. WiFi was only limited to the bar/reception area, which I didn’t try as have large mobile data plan .Rooms lacked air conditioning and with daytime temperatures of 37 degrees it meant the bedroom was too warm to get a comfortable nights sleep. I didn’t try the breakfast so can’t comment .
