Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThat we only stayed for 1 night.
We liked everything: the spacious room and bathroom, the decor, the peaceful nature surrounding, the clean swimming pool and garden, the beautiful building, the friendly staff and welcoming dog Camarón.

United KingdomWe loved every part of the stay!
It is always such a joy to stay at Vihuelo and this is the first time i brought my family; they are just as charmed with the beautiful place and friendly staff as i am! The large and comfortable rooms, tasteful decorations, dreamy views and incredible hospitality are all 10/10

SwitzerlandOur breakfast request was complied with, which we appreciated, but all in all it was very "sugar heavy"! Room was quite cool in the evening (October) and heating capacity limited but with blankets it was fine for sleeping.
Quaint rural atmosphere. Nice setting.

United KingdomI love everything!
It feels like coming home to stay here! The hosts are always incredibly welcoming and helpful. As an often solo traveling women I feel safe here. The house is so tastefully decorated and the rooms are cozy, spacious and clean. I have stayed here now for more than 20 times visiting the area for work and coming here makes my work trips so much more relaxing and comfortable!

United KingdomOur one-night stay at Casa Rural El Vihuelo was wonderful. The room was clean and bright, and we enjoyed the lovely courtyard and spacious pool. The communal kitchen area was fantastic, allowing us to prepare meals with ease. The grounds were beautifully maintained, adding to the traditional Spanish charm of the place. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Ample parking and a short distance to a local shop made our stay convenient and enjoyable. It was a perfect retreat in a serene setting.

GibraltarI was sitting by the pool and two dogs were running on the grass, barking and disturbing other guests. Very very unpleasant. Dog poos left near the main gate entrance. Should I return to this place ?
Location is very nice, easy to find. Beautiful all the surrounding green area. Room very cute. Lots of space to relax. Fair breakfast for what you pay. I suggest a nice cappuccino/coffee machine should be available.

United StatesThere was a strong smell of sewer in my room on one night/day. I believe possibly coming from the upstairs, probably due to older plumbing as it is an older historical building. But I opened the window for the day and that really helped. It only happened one day out of 2 . That was my only complaint
The property was absolutely lovely. Everything was beautiful down to every detail - the decor, the art, etc. The owner was very nice and open to driving me into town (10 minutes by car) as the property is 40 minutes walking from the nearest town El Bosque. There is no restaurant on the premise so next time I will make sure to bring food to store in the community kitchen. Breakfast was nice, although mostly breads and pastries. They owner was so hospitable he made me a small plate of cheese and meats for a small fee ( as It was my first time there and I didnt realize there wasnt a restaurant. ) I would absolutely recommend staying here. It was such a dream and so relaxing!

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have a kettle in the room. We drove into the village for a meal in the evening and struggled to find somewhere good to eat. In desperation we chose La Taberna overlooking the main square. The food was not good and it was the most expensive place at which we have eaten. Our host suggested we went to Casa Ruel Hotel but they were not serving dinner and seemed unable to tell us when they would be open for food. It looked very dark and unwelcoming.
The location was wonderful, completely quiet and relaxing. No other buildings visible just mountains, fields and trees. The complex itself was traditional and full of art works of all sorts. There was plenty of space to relax privately in the garden and a pool which looked well kept but we didn't use. Our room was beautiful and exceptionally clean. The bed comfortable and bathroom small but adequate. We had the use of a kitchen across the courtyard and breakfast was a self served buffet.

GibraltarMore attention to cleanliness, especially in the bathroom. Also there was a slight smell from the sink which was a little bit unpleasant, Also although there is WiFi in all the main areas it's very poor reception in the bedrooms not just ours but other guests also had the same problem.
This place is a haven of peace and tranquillity. The farmhouse has been beautifully converted, and the rooms we stayed in are spacious and well equipped. Anderson is the manager who handles the place, including preparing breakfast, etc. His friendly very happy to help and accommodate his guests within what he can. The place sits on the edge of El Bosque Town, and it's a 6-minute drive to local restaurants and the town itself. You can also walk through some beautiful fields on a country lane and see some of the flora and fauna, this might take you 30 minutes at a comfortable pace. I will definitely return as the place is ideal to disconnect and enjoy just relax time. We came in February, so Anderson lit the log fire in the dining room so the men could watch football there. All the rooms have heaters and is very cozy. The outside areas are very well maintained and with good weather perfect place to hang out.

United KingdomNothing at that price point.
This is a beautiful property with lovely rooms and comfy beds. There is a pool and a fully equipped kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining areas. Perfect for preparing your own meals if you prefer. It's a working farm with a variety of animals to keep the kids amused. You can do worse than simply spending the day on the premises. Ideal location for exploring the Sierra de Grazalema and within easy reach of Arcos, Jerez, Cadiz, Seville and Setenil for a day trip. El Bosque is a charming little town with a nice selection of supermarkets cafes and restaurants. It's also the location of the office which issues the permits needed for some of the walks in the area. Excellent value for money. Our new favourite country retreat.

United KingdomCouldn't get hot water in one of our rooms, however long we waited. Smell of drains in the bathroom. Got hot water in the other room but it took a very long time to come through, so it was wasteful of water. Perhaps needs handrails on the stairs to make things a bit safer for those of us who are that bit older.
Rustic in a nice way. Kitchen facilties. One room was big with an open fire. Ours was a winter visit and we could see it would be lovely in summer.
