How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewExcellent staff and service. Beautiful views and beautiful slate stone walls around the property.
The location is quite high on a private, gated road. It's not easy to up, and sometimes the communication to request a ride on the Rec de Palau golf cart is spotty. I don't remember knowing about this aspect of the property so it was a bit of a surprise.

Verified reviewLocation was away from the main area of Cadaques so had privacy. Great view from the top of the hill.
We couldn´t open the windows in our room as it was directly outside a walking path for guests to the swimming pool.

Verified reviewVery simple and basic room for the price. I would love to see a kettle in room for a cup of tea ! The staff were so lovely and friendly and helpful. Love the main building. It’s very beautiful. Couldn’t see a menu for restaurant - would be nice to be able to see what they offer, when open. A nice stay thank you

Verified reviewView from the terrace was wonderful and the grounds of the hotel are lovely. I can imagine in the height of summer it would be wonderful.
I guess the main issues was distance from the centre of town and the 10 minute climb back up the hill to reach the hotel from the main road which meant we were discouraged from popping in and out of the hotel, and each time we left to go to town it was necessary to make sure you have everything.

Verified reviewThis hotel was unexepected.. (in a good way). Its not really a hotel.. its a collection of rooms and small buildings situated in what I would describe as a small hillside park.. There are three pools (or two depending on how you count) and a sprawling restaurant and reception in the main house.. We were allocated a self catering "room" - which was actually two bedrooms plus a living room and a kitchen.. you can walk down to each of the beaches in Cadaques.. and there is parking onsite.. all in all this is a uniuqe a cool place to stay..
Nothing to dislike but be aware this is not a "Hotel" in the traditional sense.. its a series of rooms in some grounds.

Verified reviewThe views from the property are spectacular and the staff were extremely personable and accommodating. Felt like we were in nature. The American breakfast was delicious and quite abundant. Lunch and dinner were equally good. Amazing sunrise views and good food. Although the property is located well above the beach, pick up service on the golf cart to and from the main entrance was efficient when we didn't feel like walking up.

Verified reviewThe suite with terrace had direct access to a semi private pool with an incredible view. It felt like the whole deck was ours. So easy coming in an out from the room to this paradise. Very comfortable and inviting to stay for hours enjoying the environment.
Difficult access. You have to drive through a peatonal street to get there and ascend the mountain either driving or by foot. Difficult both ways but totally worth it.

Verified reviewThe breakfast room had spectacular view and the decor was tastefully done. The swimming pools were lovely Shower was very good The rooms were clean- and were regularly cleaned and fresh towels were placed in the room We got a bottle of local wine as a gift at check out
-We were refused to change room to a larger room another family member joined the two of us, but we were told that no change was allowed. However, The same hotel if booked from Expedia was fully flexible until a short time before checkin date. This created a major problem for us as we had to find another room in a different hotel for our sister. And because of it we had to go back and forth on a very rough and long path that passed mountains and narrow streets filled with pedestrians several times a day. -Our room was extremely small with a closet that had room for six hangers. Of note, we had paid for the room for seven nights for two ladies, therefore, our clothes were all over the chairs and on our suitcases, photo attached. -The parking rate was listed free but when we got there we were asked for 15 euros per night. -Our windows had no screens and mosquitoes were plenty, so despite our wish, we had to sleep in that tiny room with the window closed and with air condition on! -The breakfast was mediocre at best. While the serving staff were nice, the croissants were soft and soggy, and the coffee was tasteless, while the amount was plenty. Jam and butter came in tiny containers and had no authenticity. - The property had a bad smell upon arrival and when asked ithe hotel management showed the air freshener next to the hotel entrance exuding the unpleasant smell.
