Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyMaybe it was a little bit more expensive than expected, but I have to say that I had a good time in my stay.
The room was good and clean. The elderly receptionist/owner, named Felix, is very available, polite and kind. I wish all the receptionists were like him!

TurkeyThere was no toilet papers in the room, even though they cleaned the room while I stay, they didn't put any. The room I stayed was facing the back of the building, so it was very dark but also quite, I slept well. There could have been better pillows.
An old couple runs the place. They were very sweet and helped me out with the late check-in. The place is in the middle of old town, so it was very handy.

PortugalThe price was a little bit high for the hotel and the room had a some dust. Also there was a festival that weekend in the square right Next to the hotel, so we couldn't sleep because there was lot of noise, but that wasn't the hotel fault
Really good location, right in the old city center. The hosts were very nice and they wait for us until almost midnight, that was great :)

HungaryYou can hear everything around you: in the corridor and in the other rooms - even a cough, let alone people talking in the corridor...
Fantistic staff, they're magically there when you need them but invisible otherwise.

GermanyThe bed and pillow was so uncomfortable. We had an extreme back pain in the morning. They have to renew them. The windows are also very old and you can hear all the noise coming from the street. For that price, I would expect much more.
The location was great. We had a very nice and tiny balcony in our room. The receptionist was also a very friendly man. You are in the middle of the old town.

United KingdomYou have to rely on Google maps to find the pension. There is no sign except for the small handwritten paper by the door. It is a bit of a challenge because of communication.
The pension house is situated in the old town. There are lots of restaurants and patisseries surrounding the area. I love that the check out time is stretched until 12 pm. I would love to stay here again just because of the location.

AustraliaNo facilities to make a cup of tea or a hot drink. The lady who was in charge was very nice but spoke no english. The lift only stops between floors (!) so there are always a few stairs; not recommended if you have a heavy bag or mobility issues.
Very central in old Bilbao. Clean, comfortable and secure. Fine for an overnight stay.

United KingdomWhile the hosts do not speak english, they were still lovely and polite. I initially booked a single room which doesn't have a balcony and not much of a view either. I asked for a room with a balcony and view and the hosts kindly moved me to a beautiful room looking out to the cathedral.

United Arab EmiratesCan’t complain if you have a limited hotel/ hostel budget.
It’s located in central of old town, easy to go everywhere. It’s just your car or taxi will not able to drop you in front of this hotel, you need to walk a bit. The owner of the hotel is very kind, friendly and helpful. With a limited English, he tried his best with his wife managed to accommodate your best stay in Bilbao.

Great location in the heart of the city. Good beds with, slightly older but, perfectly clean sheets and an old-fashioned warm blanket. I loved the feel of 'having taken good care of things' and no nonsense of unneeded renewel. Our room was upfront, the street relatively quiet on a Sunday-night, but if you close the shutters you'll block the sounds of the street. And in the morning it's nice to look at the city coming slowly to life. The host is such a sweet personality with kind eyes that make you believe in the absolute goodness of human beings. My daughter and I were really touched by him; told him so.

We came here on foot ending our Camino walk from Irun. Very lovely elderly man manages this place. It is simple but clean and all we needed after many nights in hostels. Clean. Central. Safe. Many great places to eat nearby. Basques were super friendly. We recommend.

United KingdomProbably the church's bell dinging from 8 am every hour. It's ok if you are an early bird, if not, consider it!
Everything was good, especially the location in the old town. The affordable price is a plus and the staff was just adorable, although it's true that the room we got for the first couple of nights wasn't as cosy as the one that they gave us later on, with a balcony with views to the main square.
