Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe swimming pool was not open. The jacuzzi was basic with outside windows blocked. Lots of building work going on. Netting on the first floor spoiling the view in the courtyard.

Hong KongThe Jacuzzi / hot tub was a bit cold (to the point of being near freezing). Not a big issue as we were only trying it out to be nosy since the pool was not yet open due to season. I am sure it would be much better during the summer.
The hotel was very good and had wonderful atmosphere. Our check in went well and the staff were helpful. It should be noted that, like other Spanish hotels, they are very lightly staffed. When a large group or tour arrives, it is definitely stretched (but this is not often). We managed to be their for a procession at the attached church, where the people wound their way around the hill to get up. We also managed to be there for the Great Power Outage (where the whole country (and Portugal) went dark). The hotel had backup power that operated until the national grid was restored, but the staff went and got candles just in case (so we actually missed the opportunity for a romantic and historical experience - though elevators and room lights was likely better). All in all, one of our favorite Paradors. We found it was convenient, and pleasant, to get to town, but had to go down some steep stretches. Those who are mobility challenged would need to drive or get a taxi.

United KingdomAt breakfast in the morning there is an option to order hot food which we did. However, I like to have fruit and yoghurt before and the hot food comes almost immediately so when I came to eat my omelette it had gone cold.
We booked a suite which was lovely and spacious and very clean. The Parador is a beautiful building with great views over Monforte. We have stayed several times and will definitely be returning. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

United KingdomThe waiting staff could have been a bit more friendly. We found them quite aloof. The reception staff however, were exemplary in their welcoming attitude.
Reception was lovely - other staff were less friendly and welcoming - maybe it's a northern spanish thing? The room was wonderful and the food good - it was an honour to stay in such a magnificent building - I wish the UK would replicate such a great example.

PortugalWhen we arrived, we discovered there was a water outage in the village and this was not mentioned when we checked in. Not their fault it was out, but I think it should have been mentioned when we checked in. It had reportedly been out for about 4 hours when we checked in. However the staff delivered bottles of drinking water and a large jug of water to our room, and when the water came back on about 10:00 that evening, they called to let us know it was back on. They also did a free load of laundry service for me as I told them I was needing to do some hand wash laundry when I checked in. That was nice of them.
Beautiful old historic building, with such attention to detail in the rooms and common areas. The room we got had a huge living room which we were told used to part of the old church. Breakfast fare was good, the bar was pleasant with reasonably priced wines and beers and they even serve casual meals in the bar. The dinner at the hotel restaurant was better than most hotel restaurants. We were able to park for free in the square by the hotel and didn’t have to use the parking garage for 10 euros a day.

United StatesThe only issue we have is the limited food option for dining at the Parador's in general. There needs to be more options for plant-based meals. The vegan burger was not prepared well and was the only item on the menu that we could order.
The parador was well maintained, excellent staff and our room was exceptional. THere was a lot of history associated with the facility and we enjoyed learning about it.
