Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe beds were not as comfy.
The location was great, very close to the metro station, great activity options near the hotel.

SpainThe aircon doesn’t really work that much. It could have been 10 out 10 if the air condition work as it should be.
The location as well as letting us in early as long as the room is ready. The staff are nice too.

United StatesA lot of work on the street and dust outside so you cannot open the windows too much except at night when workers are not there. In the morning is noise because of municipality Maintenace of the streets and changing public sewer. All the staff are very attentive but only one with glasses seemed very nice and helpful talking. They are strict with check out at 11 nd do not consider extra time that I am used to receive with booking, so I was not satisfied with it.
I like the hotel very accessible to many areas around. You are close to Sol plaza and gran via. The room has frigobar and you can store water and things for breakfast if you want to save some money. In Spain a breakfast can cost 20 euros or more per person if you land on a fancy place. Most restaurants open late.

United KingdomI wish there was a hair dryer included in the room and that there were just two normal pillows instead of a single long one, which was a bit weird. Also, I don’t like that you need coins for the baggage lockers, as I usually don’t carry any cash on me.
The hotel is very well located, close to Puerta del Sol, which is in the middle of the Centro Histórico. The staff was very nice and helpful, the room had a comfortable double bed, and the bathroom was modern and clean.

SpainLet's say that the shower gel provided was the smallest I've seen in my life ; )) And a mirror in the room would be an improvement.
It's excellent location, just a few steps away from Sol metro station, very central.

RomaniaThe towels were pure polyester, difficult to use. No hairdryer in the room. Very small bathroom, like 2/2 meters in total.
Nice and cozy Hostal, in the center of town. Close to shops, restaurants and metro (Puerta de Sol station). Reception personnel friendly. Building with elevator and even though the window is front of a busy area when closed is silent enough. A good value for money location for short stays.

United KingdomThere was no kettle in room which was big disappointment. Main drawback though was the street noise. Yes, Madrid is the city that never sleeps but neither could I - even with window shut so no fresh air - the street noise was very loud right through to 4am. For this reason, although everything else positive I would not book again as I got hardly any sleep. For night owls!
Room was comfortable and bathroom clean with a good shower. Safe environment with 24 hour reception. Lift really useful as had luggage for a 3 weeks holiday. Very very central for historic centre and restaurants, bars, supermarkets and markets. Minutes from Sol station. Felt safe as lone female. Public transport close by. Staff helpful.

AustraliaNothing to winge about...great stay.
The location of this hotel was so so good. Hundreds of eateries and bars, close to transport and meeting places for tour pick-ups. The room was excellent but no hairdryer and they don't give bath mats. 😩 But hey when in Madrid all is good.😁

United StatesThe area is a bit noisy, with people staying out late in the bars and restaurants below. This is no fault of the hostal, though, and the noise really didn't bother us.
The Hostal is clean and comfortable, and the people working at the 24/7 front desk were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size and have a nice balcony with views of the street below. The hostal is in a great location and is within walking distance to many attractions, as well as the metro. I appreciated that the hostal allowed us to store bags when we arrived before check-in time (note: you will need 2€ per locker to store bags, but the lockers are large and hold a lot).

IsraelThe toilet bathroom door has a big gap (2-3 centimeters) with a wall when it is closed. Not so pleasant if you travel with your child. The place is very crowded. Voices, songs, etc are during whole night, non stop. If you want silence in the night is is not the place you're looking for
The location is very central, the room is repaired, everything is clean, the stuff is very helpful

United KingdomMaybe its a British thing but I miss not having a kettle in the room to make an early morning or late night cuppa.
The location was excellent, right in the heart of Madrid, close to the Metro and countless cafes, bars and restaurants. The rooms were fairly basic, lacking some of the personal touches seen in some hotels, but perfectly adequate for our visit.
