Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsReally central location, and the hotel fitted all our requirements. Congratulations to the management team on their employee management, saying this without meeting them because I know employee motivation comes from above and for me and my partner, the best of Los Lanceros is it's staff. From the amazing Charo and how helpful and nice she was all the time, to the evening security person that realized we could not park late in the evening as there was no park place and warned it's colleagues from the morning shift we shouldn't be charged for that evening, to the older gentleman working in the bar that made sure our coffees were not charged as we had already paid the parking we did not used. All of these are examples for me that show staff is motivated to keep it's customers happy, but also it's empowered to take decisions on the go that allow for an increase in customer satisfaction, like our example. Please keep it up, value your staff, they are great employees and as I said at the beginning and without reducing any value on the Hotel itself, the best in Los Lanceros was it's staff! Thank you to you all.

GermanyLos Lanceros is a very nice hotel only a stone´s throw from the centre of El Escorial. It has everything you could want in a medium sized provincial hotel: especially the friendly staff should be mentioned. The room and the hotel itself were good. We did not take breakfast - although small, El Escorial has many small cafes where one can find a typical Spanish breakfast.

BelgiumMore of a footnote, but it is advisable to pre-book a car parking space at the hotel, which we were not aware of ahead of time. Equally, on arrival you need to go first to the hotel reception to ask for the parking gate to be opened (it's located on the next street over), as you cannot just turn up and drive straight in. Otherwise, no complaints!
The hotel was ideally located for exploring San Lorenzo and the historic sites of El Escorial. It was a major benefit to have a dedicated car park onsite, given the pressure for spaces in the centre of the town. The staff were extremely friendly and responsive throughout our stay, the rooms were perfectly comfortable (with very good noise insulation from the windows, which mattered a lot as we were there during the big San Lorenzo festival), and the restaurant ticked all the boxes for adults and kids alike. Overall, an excellent discovery to which we would be happy to return!

United StatesIt is a traditional hotel not far from the famous monastery. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant and it is enjoyable to scan their collection of daily newpapers while taking coffee.

SpainI didn't like the bathroom, specifically the bath tub. The drain is clogged and it's a little hard to take a bath because the water reached till my legs.
The hotel was very near the Monasterio, the location was perfect! It's good because we don't need to call for Uber to get to the locations we want to go to. About the hotel, the room was clean, bed was perfectly made and there's even a mini fridge for our food. I really liked the atmosphere as well. It was peaceful, no noise. I slept very well.

SwedenWe needed breakfast at 7 AM so we were a bit disappointed that we had to go out to look for breakfast. And on the last day I found a cucaracha in my bathroom. Other than that, we had a perfect stay!
The room was very spacious and clean. Not cold at all - rather a bit too warm but I prefer too warm! Perfect location, very centric.
