Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe in room toiletries. Bring your own !
Beautiful setting in mature gardens with two lovely swimming pools and a waterfront Chiringuito. Spa/ Gym area even neighbouring beach horse riding stable. Rooms have baths, powerful water pressure and bathroom hairdryer, mini fridge and quiet air con plus fan. You can get Sky news and CNN in English on the tv if required too. Best of all is dinner service. So professional with a magical local menu at a great standard. Breakfast is included, you can have lunch in the chringuito and then a hotel dinner...no need to leave the compound ! Perfect. Special thanks to the multi lingual reception team, Dolores and evening waiting team and the miracle massage lady Marie Therese who is just AMAZING. We will be back.

SpainBreakfast includes a good selection of fresh fruit, pancakes, breads, cheese, and ham. However, there’s very little guidance after check-in. It’s not clearly explained that eggs can be ordered or where to find coffee and fresh juice, which are served at the bar. You’re left to figure things out as you go, choosing your own table, gathering cutlery and napkins from drawers at the buffet, and queuing for drinks. It can feel a bit unclear at first. On our second day, we overheard another guest ordering eggs at the bar, which is how we found out it was an option. A little more direction on your first morning at breakfast would easily correct this. Apart from this which in all honesty is no big deal, everything was lovely.
The hotel is truly beautiful, with enchanting Moorish-Mediterranean architecture and lush, impeccably maintained gardens that create a serene and luxurious atmosphere. Its beachfront location, set on a small, rocky cove, adds charm and makes it a peaceful and very special place to stay. The overall setting is unique, relaxing, and tranquil, with two lovely pools and a delightful beachside restaurant perfect for lunch. Guests are thoughtfully provided with fresh beach towels daily. Breakfast is served in the main building, and both dining areas have a warm and inviting ambiance. Our room was comfortable and well-equipped, with everything we needed for a pleasant stay, generous storage space, a fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, a safe, and a spacious bathroom. The bed was especially comfortable, and the air conditioning kept the room cool and restful at night. What truly stood out was the care and attention from Jacobo, the Operations Manager, who made us feel incredibly welcome. His professionalism and personal dedication added so much to our experience, and we’re very grateful to him. All in all, this is a charming and unique hotel in a magical setting—an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Tarifa. We look forward to returning.

United KingdomThe room with the ‘mountain view’ was a misnomer! In reality it was a dark north facing room which I wouldn’t stay in again. The biggest surprise was the lack of toiletries in a supposedly 4 star hotel. There was a perfunctory soap dispenser on the wall but no separate shampoo, conditioner, body cream, tissues, cotton wool etc that is usually standard in just about every hotel. I had come unprepared for this!
A beautiful property in idyllic surroundings. Dinner was a lovely experience eating outside as the sun went down. Enjoyed the beach bar for pre dinner drinks.

Perfect relaxing stay at this hotel. It’s got two pools - one family friendly and the other adults only. Located just off the beach and set in a beautifully maintained gardens. The food was really good here too both for breakfast and the restaurant in the evening.

GibraltarThe pillows were too hard for me, but this is just personal preference. The four night minimum stay. I would say it's pet tolerant rather than pet friendly.
The view from the breakfast patio is absolutely stunning. The staff were very nice and helpful. The room is comfortable and quite luxurious. Breakfast had a lot of choice and was very good quality.

United KingdomThe bed was a good size and comfortable, but the pillows were not too hard im afraid. In the evening i asked for A Bloody Mary on 2 nights the first i was told i had to go down to the bar/resteraunt near the beach to get one. Tbh apart from the fact that at 7/30pm t was closed, and when i returned empty handed the staff made me one!! It was similar the 2nd night!!
Everything the staff very helpful and friendly etc etc

United KingdomI think the rooms could do with a bit of a makeover - some refresh of the painted woodwork maybe and a walk in shower. I would also have liked a bit more variety in terms of menu at the beach bar. The gym is really tired - how about a few cardio machines? These are really only minor gripes that did not detract from the whole experience.
We really loved the Hurricane Hotel. It has a very relaxed feel in keeping with the whole area. The staff were excellent and the restaurant and bar in the evening was so good we ate there all three nights - simply not worth venturing further afield. The two pools are lovely and clean ( if a bit chilly in February!) and the proximity to the beach is fantastic. The gardens are beautiful.

RomaniaIn the rooms with a mountain view, you can hear the traffic from the street, for those who are not very early risers it may disturb them in the morning.
Although it is only rated 2* it could easily have been 4*. Everything is wonderful, only those who appreciate the small details see the potential of this place. For dinner you have to book a table, but you only gain if you do, the food is exceptional.
