How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. It is good for 1 night stay. I didn't see any kitchen or something rest area. Just room at the center .

Verified reviewThe owners were so welcoming, friendly, hospitable. The location was very good, a short walk (6-10 min) to museums, La Plaza Mayor, cafes, neighborhood eateries. The beds (a twin and a full) were comfortable. Plenty of hot water for a shower. They got my room ready early, even though they couldn't promise. I was grateful for that, I arrived to their hostal exhausted.
Next time I'll request a room that faces the interior. All over Madrid, recycling bins and garbage bins are emptied at 1-2 am. Loud!!

Verified reviewThe lady who runs it was very friendly and helpful. The room was fairly basic but very clean and comfortable. The room was cleaned every day with clean towels etc. The location was great. Everything worked including the air conditioning.
The one thing that would have improved the room was a bedside lamp.

I have stayed in some pretty bad hotels in life, but none compare to the overall experience in this hotel. I had never experience such a horrendous level of racism. My partner (white man) went to the hostal a couple of minutes before me (I went to the supermarket across the road), he did the check-in (that was in my name) and told them I was on my way. When I arrived, I rang the the intercom, no one opened for me, random person that was leaving let me in. This hostal does not have any signs in the building, so I ended up at the door of a different business, where someone pointed out where I should go. At the hostal door, I rang the doorbell politely for about 5 min and no one opened the door (but I could hear there were people inside). I sat at the stairs and texted my partner who was inside the room, he confirmed I was in the right floor and he was getting dressed to come outside. So, I persisted in knocking on the door and I could hear the voices and steps inside, near the door. After a long time knocking, a man and a woman opened the door and shouted at me: "we do not have space for you" (it is important to highlight that they shouted at me before I could say anything). To what they followed shouting at me: "why are you knocking on the door?" "go away". At that point, my partner came and saw how badly they were treating me and told them "she is my partner". Immediately, both of them started apologising and the man said "I saw you on the camera, but I didn't know you were his partner". I realised that, despite having been informed that I was on my way and seeing me on the camera, the hostal owners refused to open the door because they didn't think it could be me and were deliberately refusing to open the door. They made a conscious decision to NOT open based on what they saw through the camera (aka my face and skin colour) and the mistreatment I received was because of how I look.

We are extremely sorry that the situation may have given rise to a misunderstanding. Our establishment is located in a beautiful building with several stairs and businesses. For this reason, in the reservation we always indicate the address and the exact floor in which it is located, as well as the staircase by which it is necessary to access, recommending that you read it well to be able to locate it easily. The exact location is specified at the front door, as well as the contact telephone number and at the intercom, it is necessary to dial the correct number and the bell to ring and be able to attend it, being able to add voice instructions if necessary. If the client enters directly from the portal, since we do not have access cameras, we are not aware that the client is arriving to go out to receive him. If, in addition, the circumstance occurs that the client accesses through the door furthest from the reception, it may take us a few minutes to go out to receive them, even though they can hear other guests staying. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We are delighted to be able to serve our customers.
