How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

It is unacceptable to be charged for a bottle of water at breakfast... There are not enough options and it is not right when you pay for breakfast at the hotel that not all options are included in the breakfast...

There was really nothing we didn’t like — our stay was too short to enjoy everything the hotel has to offer!
We really enjoyed our one-night stay at Hotel Avenida Gran Vía. The location is fantastic — right in the heart of the city, making it so easy to walk everywhere and enjoy the lively atmosphere. The room was comfortable, clean, and well-presented, which made for a relaxing night. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making check-in smooth and stress-free. For a short city break, this hotel was a perfect choice and offered great value. We would happily stay again next time we’re in town!

The room was a bit small.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Really close to everything - the central square, metro stations... The hotel was clean and they were very nice that they let as check in earlier then the checking in time.

The price was a little high, but this is a very expensive area in Madrid, anyway.
Location! It was near Cibeles and other subway stations. There were many restaurants, shops, and touristic attractions nearby. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. There's a small cafe on site and you can have breakfast there.

thin walls, but not really a problem
Location was superb, steps away from the Gran Via which is one of the main streets in Madrid, easy to get to everything. Puerto do Sol was also just 2 mintues walk and Plaza del Carmen 1 minute away. We would stay in this area again, and even in this hotel if available.

Breakfast in the cafe was disappointing. The croissant and churros were cold and the coffee was with to much milk.
The location was excellent! A quiet street, just a few steps from the Gran Via.

Our room was situated on a rather busy street with lots of deliveries so it was noisy at times. The breakfast didn't have many options to choose from which was disappointing. More options or bigger portions would have been appreciated as some people only have two meals per day.
The hotel is very close to the Gran Via high street with quick access to local amenities like shops or the different tube stations. The room and bathroon were very spacious and the staff always helpful an friendly.

Nothing much to say, sound isolation between rooms could be better, but it wasn't that bad.
Great location, nice and clean room. Looks exactly like the pictures. We reserved only the room but we tried breakfast in the connected cafeteria and it was good and a fair price.

It smells bad in the reception, an irrigation smell, so intense that hits you as soon as you get there. When I used the heating the same smell in reception starts to get in room,
Location is great, almost in gran via but without having that much noise. Bed is comfortable, Reception personal are nice and welcoming, Room is exactly the same than photos.

The smell of a cleaning product at the entry of the hotel and the noise coming from the street and from the hallway of the hotel (the cleaning staff started at 9am)

Only wished if they provided a bottle of water atleast on the day of arrival and a coffee maker in the room.
Great location, Good pleasing staff, the attached coffee shop is a great advantage which also swerves as a breakfast place.
