Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bed, whilst being comfortable, has a tendency to try and wander from itself in the night. Perhaps because of the slopy floors. The headboard isn't attached. (It is all easily put back together, though.) The telly is so comically small we could barely see it. Our balcony window/door didn't shut properly- we used a pen to seal it one night, then decided to leave it out for air, anyway. The sinks have no plugs. There was no soap in the toilets. One of the toilets was leaking slightly; I reached for an available mop to clean the floor and the head wasn't attached to the handle, which made me laugh. The corridors smell bad- of stale smoke, mostly, which amused me because there were so many no smoking signs. There was a vaguely sulphurous smell in the toilet/shower room. Then they use some sort of air perfume to try and mask this which makes it worse. (Our room smelled fine though). There was no lamp in the room- although there was a nice little light over the sink- the switches from the bed controlled the Big Light. I couldn't get the radiator to work (we visited in November) but we used the extra blanket from the spare bed. I could've asked, of course.
It's very central. Near a great felaferia & taco place & all sorts of cool streets. The bed is comfortable. The covers are nice blankets with good patterns. We had a private room so there was an extra bed. There is a sink with a mirror in the room. There is a wardrobe and little drawers and some little shelves. There are double windows and shutters which cut out most of the light and noise so we slept well. The balcony is cool- 2nd floor views of the street and the class street art of the stripey woman and the acid boys (when that shop is shut) opposite. There is a light switch by the bed and plug sockets too. The floors are old and wonky and they have an interesting choice of decorative pictures. There's a fridge and a chaise longue. There's a telly... It works haha. The staff are friendly, but not overly so. There are 3 separate lockable toilets with a shower in each. Our favourite was the one with the window. The water pressure is good and the water comes hot. It was cheap.

SpainNoisy! We were in a room with private bathroom. It was next to the communal ones. Throughout the night there was the sound of doors opening and closing, toilets flushing, and noisy pipes! Also the street bell rang during the night. I suppose they were late nighters trying to get a last minute room. But it all prevented a decent night's sleep.
Very central.. Cleanliness - aceptable. The bed - comfortable. The whole place looked as if it hadn't been updated since the 60's, but we weren't expecting design and luxury for the price we paid..

United StatesThe area is not so nice, specially at night. The place is a bit outdated and it seems too expensive for what you get but that is also true for most stays at Madrid...
They were very flexible about our arrival time although we made a last minute booking and our flight got delayed. The whole place was clean and the cleaniless was maintained for our whole stay. The room was of a very good size.

AustraliaWhen we first arrived the corridors and room smelled of cigarette smoke. However after a day or two it had subsided.
Location was great - easy walking distance to all main attractions and the city centre with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. We booked a triple room for two people as it was all that was available and it was a great room with plenty of space for the two of us and a nice balcony looking onto the street. Beds were very comfortable.

ChinaTo my shock, the staff member entered the room directly the next morning without knocking and he even had the key to our room, which made me feel quite uneasy and scared. I also found a large cockroach in the hallway downstairs.

United StatesI have nothing to complaint about it. The fact that I had a room with private bathroom it gave me a hotel vibe, and it meet my expectations of simple lodging.
The location was great, easy metro access and walking distance from all landmarks, attractions, restaurants/bars and nightlife. The room meet my expectations for the price, meaning no luxury but confortable and clean room.
