The entrance is not particularly easy to find. Although the staff were really nice, we were reliant on my very basic Spanish.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hostel was very central in Madrid, and it was good value for money for anyone on a tight budget for someone simply needing basic overnight accommodation.

Tip: it's a little hard to find so look out for a small white sign saying H. ASTORIA (photo below) and there's a bell on the left of the door at the end of the passageway. Someone will open the door remotely.

A small hotel on the fourth floor of an old building (with a lift) but it was perfect for us. We wanted a great location, and this was amazing - 5 mins walk from Puerta del Sol and maximum of 15-20 mins to most places including all the galleries, the palace, the main train station, etc. The bed was very comfortable and, although the room and bathroom were small, they were everything we needed. Having a little fridge in the room was great and a microwave and kettle just near the reception - perfect. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with what they could. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is located by Sol square station. It’s an old world boutique type hotel located on the fourth floor of an old building, full of charm. The staff were lovely and eager to help. The rooms aren’t huge but are well appointed.

The hot water, takes about a minute to come, but other than that everything is okay. Would stay and recommend it to friends.

Perfect location to explore the heart of Madrid. Personally I love to stay in old buildings that have their own atmosphere. To me that's a big plus. The staff were super kind and helpful. Worth the money. Quiet and cozy for a night or two for people on a budget.

The room was small but functional. I would have preferred a room with a view to the street. However our room would have suited someone who wanted peace and quiet. If we go again I will ask for a room to the front.

The location was fabulous. Staff were very friendly. Ensuite was very nice. The Hostal has character. I now discover the Hostal is very good value for money in Madrid which is very expensive.

Right in the centre of Madrid, perfect for enjoying the city by walk. A cozy and clean room (they passed to clean and change sheets everyday) and great 24h reception for old fashioned people like me, who always prefer human contact to all the Impersonal accomodations risen recently that communicate only online. Even a fridge in the room to keep some fresh drinks in hot summer days. Good for solo travellers, especially if you spend most of the time out in the city.

The staff in the night shift was not good to us. She has a bad attitude. It’s normal if we came late in the night because we want to enjoy our last day. She threaten us to call the police. The staff in the night shift was crazy.

The hostal is clean. It’s in the center of madrid near for everything.

When I had to get in, it was like asking permission to my mom to open the door. Stayed like 4 nights and the ladies were always asking for my name and my room number. Like dude I was coming tired and lil bit drunk and the last thing I wanted was to hear my mom interviewing me. I just need a key.

Very comfortable room. Small but perfect for two people. Room had a small balcony, big windows, comfortable beds, closet, under bed storage (if your bag isn't huge!), a safe, small fridge and daily room service. Plenty of hot water, basic amenities, hot water kettle and microwave in the lobby. Staff were outstanding: friendly, helpful, kind, always a smile 😁. Fourth floor hostal, and the lift works fine. Excellent location, a couple blocks from Sol Metro Station. Sol has direct service to Charmartin train station. Super convenient. Near all the places you might want to walk. Street noise is not too bad unless Real Madrid just won a tournament... Then you might get noise into the wee hours. ⚽⚽⚽ I would absolutely stay here again. I look forward to it.

We arrived Friday night and air-conditioning didn't work however by Monday night it seemed to have been fixed, thankfully it wasn't mid summer! Signage outage is way up high on 4th floor and not lit up at night so hostal was very hard to find when we arrived in middle of night. There are several hostels in the same doorway so need to go in the doorway and door a little passage and there you see a button to press to get buzzed in and take lift to 4th floor. Room and bathroom were small, ours door was directly off reception area so you heard everytime someone needed buzzing in but surprisingly the noise was not too unintrusive. Basically all faults could be forgiven because location was amazing!

Location was amazing, staff were very friendly, although spoke no English. Room was clean and serviced every day. The was a very cold little fridge but no kettle although we used the kettle at reception and they seemed OK with that(we didnt speak the same language so not really sure if you really meant to use the kettle or not).felt very safe in the area and because it was so close popped in and out during the day. Hostal was near restuarants. shops, and sights.
