Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe pillows were quite thin and the mattresses weren't very comfortable. They weren't bad either though. All in all for the price it was really good though.
The staff were lovely and helpful, the location was excellent and the room was very clean.

United StatesOverall, it was a little pricey for a very small room with 1960s furniture and older fixtures but still comfortable. Lots of noise due to the location but it didn’t go on all night.
Excellent location! The small elevator was efficient and smooth.

United KingdomThe door cannot be locked from the inside.
I had a leg hurt and the staff was kindly borrowed me a cane. The location is very good, although it was in the city centre area, it was very quiet at night on the side not facing the street.

United KingdomRoom above a busy street and noisy bar. Very noisy at night kept me awake. I spoke to an elderly male member of staff about moving room to a quieter area but said no and was a bit rude. Next nights sleep was as bad due to noise. Rest of staff were very nice and professional
Location to Merto and shops bars was great

United KingdomFew downsides but the wifi kept cutting in and out for the first 24 hours and there was one day when the staff serviced my room but did not properly close the door afterwards – luckily nothing was disturbed. Visitors should be aware also that the hotel reception is up three flights of stairs in an old building, with a very small lift option. The toiletries provided for the shower were only hand soap.
The hotel is located very centrally, a couple of minutes' walk from Puerta del Sol and the metro interchange, and a short walk from the attractions in central Madrid, with the whole city centre being easily walkable from the hotel if not taking the metro option. There are countless restaurants and bars nearby and a choice of local supermarkets. The hotel is clean and check-in was friendly. Compared to all other comparable options the price was excellent.

CyprusFor the price I paid it was perfect so there is nothing that I have to say that is negative about this place
It’s not a expensive place to stay so you don’t expect a lot. The staff was very polite. The rooms were clean always even though they were old and they look old there is no view of course of the city.

FranceThere's soap but no shampoo. It's hard to cool down the room if you don't want to sleep with AC on (but hey, it's Spain in summer, that's normal).
Excellent location, very close to Puerta del Sol and Madrid city-centre. My room was small (as expected) but with what was needed (private bathroom, bed, air conditioning, etc). It was quiet, as the window opens onto an interior court, but bear in mind this hotel is located near a very festive street and your room might be looking out onto there. Small elevator, but it's here and working.

United KingdomReading past reviews I will say this. The rooms are located on the 3rd floor but there is a lift, its a small lift and if you have large luggage cases it take only 1 person a time, the lift is also a bit slow. If you have small case or backpack you'll be fine.
Excellent location and very close to the Sol Metro, the front door is taxi accessible also for your airport trip. Air-con room with a very comfortable bed. Located in the centre you can come out and walk in any direction and find bars and restaurants. The room we had was silent, it did not face the streets so you could not hear all the action and partying 3 floors down below. Excellent room for people not requiring 4 or 5 star hotels. Staff was super friendly also.

AustraliaThe place downstairs could get loud because of restuarants and people partying celebrating a football win!
The location was perfect or sightseeing, food and metro. The room well laid out and large. Clean beds and a balcony. The staff were very helfup and were able to give us a kettle and use a fridge. The washroom was small but clean. There was a laundry near by too and several eating places.

United StatesBecause it is in the middle of everything, the nights were quite loud with people outside partying / walking home in the early hours of the morning.
The location of the hotel was fantastic - right in the middle of lots of cute restaurants and boutiques and a short walk to Placa del Sol. The metro was really easy to get to and it was easy to walk everywhere. The room was clean and comfortable.
