How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The rooms are on the second floor of a quite old building (without lift) so this is not for you if accessibility is an issue. Also, the shared bathrooms are very small and will present difficulties for a larger person. We took the double bedroom as it was the last room available but I would recommend (for a couple) taking one of the larger rooms with a private bathroom if available.
The property is well-located to nearby Plaza Mayor and, if you like, walking distance to attractions such as the Prado Museum, Palacio Real. Alternatively, it is a short walk to the Tirso de Molina metro station which is three stops from the Puerta de Atocha main station and connections to other lines and other train and bus services.

Shared bathroom was clean and neat but i still had to leave the room to visit the washrooms even in the middle of night.
The staff were friendly and Exceptionally helpful. Metro station very close; a very clean establishment and quite orderly. There is a 24hr monitored Reception and thats fantastic.

It was difficult to get into the hotel as it wasn't marked on the doorbell panel. I had to phone the hotel to be let in.
Very friendly reception staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Central location.

Lack of electrial sockets in room. One beside bed which had a lamp plugged in and just one other which was awkwardly located. An extension gang socket could solve the problem.
Everything. Lovely, bright, clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic location within walking distance of almost everything Great wifi All in all, we were extremely happy with our stay, can very highly recommend and would definitely stay again

The cleanliness was not the best and the bedsheets were just layers, not an actual duvet. In the shower there were no toiletries. And the walls are not very soundproof.
The rooms were tidy and the person working at the reception was great. You are given a towel. Also the location cannot be any better, it's very central.

I chose a small room which was adequate - a place to store your clothes would help.
Great Location. Exceptionally clean bathrooms - spotless. Staff very hospitable and helpful, made you feel at home.

l like a firm bed. it was good for 1 but when 2 people got into the bed it sagged in the middle which was not as comfortable

There was a stair right front of my door and when I went to my room at my first 2 days I always stumble on it, even when was light or dark, even when the staff told me to pay attention for this. Maybe I was clumsy, but I think it will be recommended to highlight this stair somehow, for example put a visible tape or led lights to this stair. My private bathroom was small, it is not recommended for a very tall person around 2 meters. Despite of these peculiarities, I would be happy to stay in the same place in the future.
The staff were very kind and helpful. It was a pleasure to meet with them when I left my room or arrived to the hostel. They did not bother me but every day they took short questions to satisfy my needs and lacks, if I had any. We spoke and understood each other in English. The room was nice and clean. The hostel is well-located in the center, everything is so close.
